Under the pact, tariffs on im-ported cars will be cut from around 110 percent to 10 percent, subject to quota limits agreed by both countries.Annual import quota for conventional-engine passenger vehicles will gradually rise and reach 37,000 units across speci-fied categories by the fifth year. Customs duties will be reduced to 10 percent by then and remain unchanged thereafter. The agree-ment is expected to support Indian automakers by ensuring a regulat-ed framework for vehicle imports and market stability. Essar Power Ltd and Arham SEZ (I) Pvt Ltd have received in-principle approvals for projects in Devbhumi Dwarka and Kutch districts.Essar Power will develop a multi-sector SEZ across 56.65 hect-ares at Kajurda village in Devbhu-mi Dwarka, with an initial invest-ment of Rs.50 crore. The company expects exports worth around Rs.17,629 crore and the creation of about 894 direct and indirect jobs within five years.
