A university needs to be a place where not only knowledge is transferred, but it is disseminated with a liberal spirit of a combined team of faculty and students, and new knowledge is created through research and innovations. But it's quite unfortunate that barring a few higher education institutions, most of the universities in the country only induct postgraduate students, while undergraduate students are forced to opt for affiliated or autonomous colleges. The story of affiliated and autonomous colleges is quite different. While postgraduate students themselves hardly get to do hardcore research, undergraduate students can only dream of such luxuries. The result? Despite the flaring number of universities and colleges sprouting every year, quality of research and innovation that could contribute on the enterprise level come out short. Traditionally, the research and innovations carried out in universities across the world have been a generous contributor to the fields of science, economy, and industry, among others. But today, it's a bitter truth that the level of contribution has declined considerably. But make no mistake, this is not because of its lack of value, but due to the lack of utilization. It's extremely important that we continue to bridge this gap. In this issue of CEO Insights, we feature a bunch of educational institutions that set the precedent right once again.
