| | JUNE 20268The Nuclear Power Corpo-ration of India Limited (NPCIL) has achieved a major construction milestone at Unit-5 of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) in Tamil Nadu with the success-ful installation of the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) inside the reactor building. The achievement follows approval from the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) for major equipment installation, enabling the commencement of critical nuclear island machinery deployment.NPCIL said the complex operation was completed using advanced heavy-lift cranes and reflected strong engineering capa-bilities, meticulous planning, and adherence to stringent safety and quality standards. The milestone marks a key transition in the con-struction of Unit-5 and advances progress toward strengthening India's nuclear power generation capacity while supporting long-term energy security goals and future demand. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Robert Fico agreed to strengthen coop-eration in defense, cybersecurity, critical infrastructure protection, and connectivity, identifying these areas as key pillars of the growing India-Slovakia partner-ship. The leaders emphasized the importance of expanding defense and security ties and decided to encourage regular consultations and exchanges between their respective defense institutions.They also welcomed the signing of a Letter of Intent on Defense Cooperation, noting that it would foster mutually beneficial partnerships in the defense sector. On cybersecurity, both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in protecting critical information infrastruc-ture and combating cybercrime.
