| | APRIL 20269Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the recently completed Noida International Airport, which is designed to serve as a prominent international entry point for the National Capital Region.The Noida airport has been established as the sec-ondary international airport serving the Delhi-NCR region, providing additional capacity to complement the existing facility at Delhi's Indira Gandhi Interna-tional Airport.Its commencement signifies a noteworthy achieve-ment in India's progression towards establishing itself as a prominent global center for aviation.Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to make a visit to Uttar Pradesh on March 28, 2026. In the morning of that day, around 11:30 am, he will conduct an inspection of the terminal building at the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar.Following this, at approximately noon, the prime minister will officially open Phase-I of the Noida In-ternational Airport and deliver a speech to a gathered audience. The Noida airport stands as one of the most significant greenfield airport initiatives in India.The joint operation of the airports in Delhi and Noida will create a cohesive aviation network, alleviat-ing traffic congestion, increasing passenger capacity, and establishing Delhi-NCR as a prominent interna-tional aviation center, the announcement declared.The initial phase of the Noida International Air-port has been constructed at a cost of Rs 11,200 crore using a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) framework.Initially, the airport will possess the capability to cater to 12 million passengers every year. Upon com-pletion of its full development, this figure could po-tentially increase to accommodate up to 70 million passengers annually.The characteristics consist of a 3,900-meter run-way equipped to accommodate large-bodied aircraft, state-of-the-art navigation systems like the Instrument Landing System, and cutting-edge airfield lighting designed to facilitate efficient, all-weather, 24/7 oper-ations.The airport also encompasses a comprehensive cargo infrastructure, which comprises a diverse range of facilities such as a multi-modal cargo hub, an inte-grated cargo terminal, and logistics zones.The cargo facility has been crafted to manage more than 250,000 metric tonnes per year, with the potential to increase to 1.8 million metric tonnes, and features a specialized 40-acre MRO (maintenance, re-pair, and overhaul) center.Crafted with a focus on sustainability and prepared for future needs, the Noida International Airport has the goal of functioning as a facility that produces zero net emissions. It will incorporate energy-efficient sys-tems and environmentally conscious practices.The architectural concept of the building is influ-enced by Indian heritage, integrating features that evoke traditional ghats and havelis to combine cultur-al values with contemporary design.The Noida International Airport, situated strate-gically along the Yamuna Expressway, has been de-signed as a multi-modal transportation center that will seamlessly integrate various modes of transportation such as road, rail, metro, and regional transit systems to provide efficient connections for both passengers and cargo.
