| | JUNE 20268Blue Energy Motors (BEM), a leading manufacturer of elec-tric and LNG-powered heavy-duty trucks in India, has surpassed 100 million kilometres of cumulative fleet operations across the country, marking a significant milestone for sustainable freight mobility. The company said the achieve-ment reflects growing adoption of cleaner transportation solutions amid rising fuel costs, corporate sustainability commitments, and India's decarburization goals. With more than 1,400 trucks operating on key freight corri-dors, BEM estimates it has helped prevent over 30,000 tonnes of carbon emissions, equivalent to the absorption capacity of nearly 1.2 million trees. The company has built an integrated ecosystem comprising smart fleet management, energy infrastructure, and service support. Its LNG trucks offer ranges of up to 2,400 kilometres, while dedicat-ed charging. India and Afghanistan dis-cussed ways to deepen cooper-ation in areas of mutual interest during a meeting in Beijing between Ambassador Vikram Doraiswami and Afghanistan's envoy to China, Asadullah Karimi. The two sides exchanged views on longstanding histor-ical and civilizational ties and welcomed efforts to strengthen bilateral relations. India has continued supporting Afghan-istan through humanitarian assistance, including 20 tonnes of essential materials for vac-cine production to bolster child immunization programs. Earlier, New Delhi also pro-vided relief supplies for com-munities affected by floods and earthquakes. India has consis-tently extended medical aid and disaster relief to Afghanistan. Amid strained ties with Pa-kistan and disrupted land trade since October 2025, Afghanistan is seeking stronger economic en-gagement with India, including expanded use of Iran's Chabahar Port for trade. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said India successfully managed recent geopolitical tensions in West Asia by diversifying en-ergy imports and ensuring un-interrupted supplies of petrol, diesel, and aviation turbine fuel, LNG, and LPG despite concerns over disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking at the Citi India Conference, he highlighted India's transition from an assembly-based manufacturing economy to an innovation-driv-en hub focused on research, design, AI, advanced technolo-gies, and clean energy. On trade, Goyal said at least two to three major free trade agreements (FTAs) are expected to become operational within six months, with three to four more likely within a year. He added that trade talks with TATA MOTORS REVAMPS TECHNOLOGY ROADMAP FOR AVINYA EVS INDIA, AFGHANISTAN EXPLORE ENHANCED COOPERATION NEW FTAS EXPECTED TO ROLL OUT SHORTLY: PIYUSH GOYAL BLUE ENERGY MOTORS TOPS 100 MILLION KMS IN FLEET OPERATIONS NEWSROOM AUTOMOTIVEDATA CENTRE GOVERNMENT & POLICY the US, EU, UK, Peru, Chile, Canada, and Israel are progress-ing. Tata Motors has revised the technology strategy for its Avinya premium electric vehicle program, replacing the originally planned JLR Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) with a plat-form sourced from the Chery-JLR ecosystem. The shift is expected to reduce development timelines, improve cost efficiency and accelerate the launch of premium EV models. The first vehicle under the revised roadmap will be the Avinya X, internally known as the P2 program, with engineering proto-types expected later this year and a market launch targeted for 2027. While the core architecture comes from the CJLR ecosystem, Tata Motors is localizing electron-ics, software and vehicle systems for India. The move allows the company to focus on connectivity, locali-sation and customer experience while leveraging a proven EV plat-form for faster development.
