| | JUNE 20268Zomato has launched a World Environment Day campaign to raise awareness about its low-plastic packaging feature.The campaign film uses pets interacting with plastic objects to illustrate how better choices can influence behavior when made visible. The initiative encourag-es users to consider packaging alongside factors such as cuisine, ratings, and delivery time. Through its app, customers can identify participating restau-rants using search keywords or Trust Marker filters. Restaurants offering low-plas-tic packaging are highlighted during browsing and checkout. The feature is part of Zomato's Plastic-Free Future initiative, launched in December 2024. The program includes over 10,000 restaurants across 350 brands in 500 cities, supporting sustainable packaging alternatives and helping reduce plastic waste nationwide through environmen-tally conscious delivery practices today. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has announced plans to invest Rs 925 crore in green energy projects by FY 2030-31 as part of its sustainabil-ity strategy.The automaker will estab-lish a 10 Tonnes Per Day biogas plant at its Kharkhoda facility, expected to be commissioned in FY 2026-27. It has also expanded the ca-pacity of its existing biogas plant at the Manesar facility from 0.2 TPD to 0.7 TPD. Together, these projects will attract an invest-ment of Rs 150 crore. The company said the ini-tiatives are aimed at reducing dependence on fossil fuels and supporting renewable energy adoption. Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi reaffirmed Maruti Suzuki's commitment to cleaner energy solutions, lower oil import dependence, and long-term environmental sustainability goals nationwide. Reviewing the Data Centre Policy-2021, he directed officials to draft a more investor-friendly and practical policy aligned with industry needs. Adityanath emphasized that data, artificial intelligence, and digital infrastructure will drive the future economy. The proposed policy will prioritize AI-enabled, energy-efficient green data centers, faster approvals, reliable power supply, and stronger connectivity. Officials noted Uttar Pradesh could account for 89percent of In-dia's data center capacity by 2026. Currently, six data center parks and two standalone facilities are opera-tional, with 644 MW under devel-opment and approved investment proposals worth Rs.21,342.90 crore.
