Between Chanu Saikhom Mirabai's Silver medal, PV Sindhu and Lovlina Borgohain's Bronze medals, and the best ever performance of our National Women's Hockey team, our country learned a lot about gender equality and the need for women empowerment. Ironically the current dramatic Taliban coup in Afghanistan and the subsequent cry for help from its people, especially women and children, is also reminding us of the importance of gender equality at its highest level, but in an entirely antithetical way. For a populous country like India to succeed, the empowered women and the stratum of women entrepreneurs are vital. But it's no secret that there's a huge disparity when it comes to leaders in creative agencies and, no matter which geography you consider, female founded companies are rare. This is the case even in first world countries. In the US, the professional advertisement landscape is shockingly asymmetric, as only 0.1 percent of creative agencies are founded by women. India needs more women leaders in the creative advertisement segment. Many of the humble beginnings in the segment have paved the way for much bigger achievements. In fact, anyone who is good with creativity and studied advertising and graphics could jump right into this business, most importantly, with small initial investments. You would need a spare room and a high-speed computer for graphics processing requirements. Since social media is one of the most used marketing tools in the digital era, you are set to go. With some courage and confidence in the wallet, you could create your own story in the creative ad industry. This issue, which is about a bunch of women leaders in the segment, could give you the inspiration that you are looking for.Do let us know your thoughts.Sujith VasudevanManaging Editoreditor@ceoinsightsindia.comWe Need More Women-Led Creative Agencies Publisher Alok Chaturvedi Managing Editor Sujith Vasudevan Editorial Aveek Pal Chaudhuri Avinash Roy Mandvi Singh Sthitaprajnya Panigrahi
