| | JUNE 20269The United States and Iran have taken a significant step toward easing tensions by signing a temporary online agreement aimed at halting hostil-ities and creating a framework for a broader peace settlement. Digitally signed by US Presi-dent Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, the accord enables an immediate ceasefire without requiring direct talks. The agreement outlines a road-map for reaching a comprehen-sive settlement within 60 days. A key provision calls for un-restricted commercial navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, with the US expected to end its naval blockade within 30 days. The deal also includes Iran's renewed commitment not to pursue nuclear weapons. Howev-er, concerns remain after Trump warned of renewed military action if Iran fails to comply with the agreement's terms. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has notified the Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Foods) Amendment Regulations, 2026, mandating the display of an official Vegan logo on all approved vegan food packages from July 1, 2027. The green "VEGAN" logo with a leaf symbol must ap-pear on certified products in accordance with prescribed design and placement guide-lines. The amendment aims to standardize labeling practic-es and strengthen consumer confidence in vegan prod-ucts. Following stakeholder consultations initiated in 2022, FSSAI finalized the revised regulations.Separately, the authority issued an advisory on Ashwa-gandha use in food products, clarifying that only roots and root extracts are permitted under existing regulations, while leaves and leaf extracts remain prohibited for use in regulated food categories across India. Both leaders reviewed progress in negotiations for an interim bilateral trade deal and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
