Rising earnings have fuelled demand for consumer durables in India, and this trend is expected to continue as other factors such as rising rural incomes, expanding urbanization and changing lifestyles boost demand growth in the sector. Also, huge growth in discretionary spending and convenient financing methods have contributed to reduced product replacement cycles. And developing living patterns where consumer durables, like ACs and LCD TVs, are seen as utility products rather than luxury belongings. In light of all these developments, Ankit Jain joined his father's business, Arham Technologies, where he was instrumental in growing the product range by including all in-demand consumer durable products.

Under Ankit's leadership, Arham Technologies started producing Smart TVs and is currently the premier electronic manufacturing brand in Central India. Several regional businesses in central India have relied on Arham Technologies for highquality products. By acting as an Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM), Arham Technologies can provide its customers with a competitive pricing plan.

Below is an excerpt of Ankit’s exclusive interaction with CEO Insights magazine.

What motivated you to pursue a career in the home appliances industry?
Having a foundation in engineering, I went on to complete an entrepreneurship program at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi(IIT Delhi). One of the people who inspired me to pursue a career in home appliances was my father, who had a company that sold consumer durable. As a result, after finishing a study in business management, I chose to join my father's company and aid in its growth and expansion. After I joined the firm, we began selling TVs and other electronic equipment from
China under our brand name. Eventually, we established our own LED television production facility in Raipur.

What is the impact you have been making in your current role? What would you say is the uniqueness in your style of leadership?
Speaking about the impact, the firm has expanded from a 50-crore turnover company to a 200-crore yearly turnover company in the past seven years following my arrival. Arham Technologies is currently one of the largest consumer durable electronics companies in Central India, and we are the only television manufacturer in this region of the nation. With the two-fold growth in the size of our activities, I am now able to influence this magnitude. When I first came on board, we had a workforce of around 10 employees, but today we have 55. The expansion of both the workforce and the company's total output has been very beneficial in terms of generating new jobs.

As an example of my leadership style, every time we delegate a task to an employee, I would want to explain why we are doing it in detail. For them to understand what must be accomplished. To help us expand into a large firm, I want to train our workforce in a manner that will help us produce more leaders in the future.

Define Arham Technologies as an organization and its products/service portfolio that keeps it afloat in the industry.
We are primarily engaged in the manufacturing of consumer products such as Television, mixer grinders, washing machine, fans, and air coolers. A variety of markets exist for each of these products, such as for fans are in demand throughout the summer and the monsoon season. TVs and mixer grinders have had a consistent market demand for more than a year, and we have just joined the washing machine industry in 2020. As a result, we now have a wider
range of products from which to choose, allowing us to reach new customers and broaden our dealer network. Moreover, every product comes with service after the sale.

What has been the success mantra that constantly helps you arrive at positive outcomes?
In my life, I've found that spirituality has played an important part in maintaining a good outlook and a high Emotional Intelligence(EQ). Therefore, meditation has had a great influence on my life and has helped me reach my objectives.

What are your goals for the future and why do you strive to achieve them?
Technology will play a significant part in the future, and eCommerce will be a major player in the years ahead. As a result, we've begun selling products online in anticipation of developing a B2C Platform in the near future. Consumers are also increasingly opting to purchase products online rather than in store since their purchasing habits have shifted.Consequently, we've shifted our attention to that approach.

Based on your strong professional experience, what advice would you give to the upcoming leaders in the same industry?
Continue producing high-quality products. The importance of after sale service cannot be overstated. Customers are more concerned about warranties in today's market than they were in the past since warranties are the first thing they look at when purchasing consumable products. Customer confidence in the brand will remain high as long as we provide a generous warranty duration. As a result, being true and honest is critical in the business world.
