Various factors like high levels of pollution in Indian cities and chaotic life choices adopted by the people are causing a negative impact on people's eyes. To address these issues, India's vision care market is emerging as a mammoth market owing to the technological advances in eye care devices, high expenditure on healthcare, and growing awareness among people related to eye health. Currently, India is envisaging the arrival of many prominent eye specialists who are spearheading the eyecare segment of India via innovative eye care facilities, and Dr. Milind Killedar is one of them. After completing his MS in Ophthalmology and fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology, he found him self orienting towards institutionalized practice to help patients at a much more pragmatic level.

After practicing with some of the renowned ophthalmologists of the country for five years, he acquired enough expertise and resource to start an eye care hospital Anuradha Superspeciality Eye Hospital. As a tribute to his mother Anuradha who passed away while Dr. Milind was pursuing his MBBS, Anuradha Superspeciality Eye Hospital reflects the true essence of his love for his mother and motherland that he tries to demonstrate by helping more patients in terms of eyecare. various economic strata at Anuradha. We have subsidized sections where the poorest of poor people can avail all the eyecare facilities and we have the state-of-the-art facilities that intrinsically address all of their eye related problems. How has been your response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic? How would you describe your role in tackling those challenges?
During the pandemic, there were a few challenges like, patients not approaching us and we had to offer teleconsultations to tackle that scenario. Since we had to take care of our employees, we divided them into three groups and urged them to visit the hospital on a rotation basis. In that way, we could continue the emergency operations of our hospital, mean while ensuring that our staffs are the least exposed to the outer environment. Though the pandemic put forth some turbulent times in front of us, we continued to provide our services throughout the pandemic to who so ever in need and pay all our staff as well as upkeep all our equipment.

What drives you today as one of the leading ophthalmologists in the country?
Being trained in paediatric ophthalmology, my services are dedicated to children. I was the sixth
person in India to get trained in this particular branch and probably the second in our state, Maharashtra. So, the uniqueness of my services doesn't limit to the children of our area, but I have also devoted my life to training the junior doctors in this particular segment.

There are few short term and long term courses via which these doctors are trained, so that, they can go to their respective areas and care for the children all over India. My passion and uniqueness to offer eye care services of high quality and standards for children right from birth to 15 years, drives me today as an ophthalmologist.

Going forward, what are the changes in healthcare trends that you anticipate, and what are the opportunities that you foresee to serve people better as a leader?
Today, every nook and corner of India is getting a highspeed broadband internet connection. So now, with apt internet connectivity, we can reach more and more people. And, we have already started doing so through our vision centres, which are manned by exclusively trained technicians. Through internet connectivity, we can examine and interact with our patients remotely. Adopting advanced technologies, we are trying to reach more people and we have already started working on that. Simultaneously we are engaged in development of community partners by joining hands with socially active and well accepted groups who can extend their strength to provide our services to patients from micro interior of rural area. Since last year, we have started in three regional centers to reach more and more people in smaller towns. That's the main change that you want to see due to rapid technological advancements currently happening, along with various other changes, such as the patients getting better and quicker results.
