There are many leaders spearheading this proliferous Oil & Gas industry, and one name that remains prominent is Neeraj Gupta, CEO of Fuelbuddy a fuel delivery service company.

A Master from the IMI Belgium and IIPM, Neeraj has over two decades of experience in leadership roles in Sales, Marketing, Sales Finance, Auto Insurance, Channel, Relationship & Network Management at top organizations like Ford India, Nissan Group, Barclays, ICICI Bank, Tata Motor Finance. Prior to joining FUELBUDDY, Neeraj played a pivotal role in the capacity of National Manager at Ford Assured at Ford India Pvt. Ltd. and was responsible for planning, developing & managing the Ford Assured (used car Business) across India, Nepal & Bhutan. Read on for CEO Insights magazine’s one-on-one interaction with him!

What are the innovations you are doing to market your products and services?
At FUELBUDDY, there’s always something new coming up. For example, our recent 90-Day FUELBUDDY Promise campaign. As per this, any new customer who signs up for FUELBUDDY services will receive on time delivery of diesel fuel to their designated location, quality, and quantity assurance for all fuel delivered, and cost savings on the procurement and management of diesel for the entire 90 days. We believe that this campaign will provide an excellent opportunity for businesses to experience the benefits of our services without any risk and build trust in us. Also, we are endeavoring to build our brand presence all over, focusing on social media, content marketing, and targeted advertising. Such endeavors will help us stay ahead of the competition and continue to grow our customer base.

Tell us about your leadership approach and success mantra.
My leadership approach is centered on empowering and inspiring my team to achieve their full potential and work collaboratively towards our shared vision. A successful company is built on a foundation of
trust, transparency,and open communication, thus I strive to foster these values within my team, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. By empowering my team and leading by example, I believe that we can achieve great things together and make FUELBUDDY a success.

As for my success mantra, I strongly believe in the philosophy of Head (which helps us be decisive and think innovatively & intellectually), Heart (which helps us connect and build relationships to connect with people on a deeper level, as for a leader empathy and compassion are essential qualities), and Hand (which emphasizes the importance of aligning one's thoughts, feelings, and actions towards a common purpose).

Define FUELBUDDY as an organization and its position in the market. Also, how does it prepare efficient corporate growth strategies?
Established in 2016, FUELBUDDY is India's first and largest legal Doorstep Fuel Delivery startup providing customers the convenience of ordering their fuel (the right quality and quantity) from the comfort of their homes through their industry-first IoT and Cloud enabled products. Thus, mitigating consumer fuel procurement and storage challenges like pilferage, theft, spillage, monitoring & controlling consumption.

FUELBUDDY has raised INR 40+ crores in funding so far and recently acquired Bangalore-based on-demand Fuel Delivery startup MyPetrolPump. With over 45,000+ satisfied customers and operations in 180+ cities, they have served more than 11 crore litres of diesel to clients such as Varun Beverages (Pepsi), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd, Coca-Cola, Amazon, DLF, Infosys, Taj, Hitachi, Amazon, Flipkart, Mahindra Logistics, and Delhivery to name a few.

To prepare for efficient corporate growth strategies FUELBUDDY requires a comprehensive analysis of the market, customer needs, technological innovation, operations and logistics, strategic partnerships, and financial health.

How have you been guiding the workforce to ensure the aspects of safety, adulteration, and pilferage in fuel handling?
At FUELBUDDY, we take safety, adulteration, and pilferage very seriously. We understand that our customers rely on us to provide safe and reliable fuel delivery services. Hence, we do so by providing comprehensive training on safety and quality standards to all of our drivers and fuel handling staff. We have implemented strict quality control measures to test the fuel at various stages of the delivery process for ensuring that it is free from adulteration and contamination. Also, our delivery
trucks are equipped with GPS tracking systems, and we have installed security cameras and alarms at our fuel storage facilities which secure FUELBUDDY from pilferage and theft of fuel. Most importantly, we also continuously review and improve our safety and quality processes to ensure that we stay ahead of the industry standards.

What are the sustainable practices implemented in your operations to ensure environmental welfare, under your guidance?
At FUELBUDDY, we recognize the importance of sustainable practices in ensuring the long-term environmental welfare of our planet. Thus, we are committed to minimizing this impact through a range of sustainable practices like- a). Last Mile Impact We have implemented fleet management systems that optimize our fuel usage and reduce emissions on a regular basis, b). Green Bharat Initiative The FUELBUDDY Green Bharat initiative has two key objectives to reduce carbon emissions and promote green cover. We plan to achieve these objectives through a combination of innovative practices & partnerships. We have an inbuilt nursery in our office and whenever we meet our customers/partners/ vendors we give them an indoor plant that reduces CO2 emissions and improves the quality of air.

What is the kind of future roadmap you plan to execute for FUELBUDDY?
As the CEO India Business, FUELBUDDY, our top priority going forward is to continue building on our momentum. We will invest heavily in technology by developing new features for our mobile app, leveraging data analytics to optimize our supply chain and delivery routes, and exploring new technologies such as AI and blockchain to further improve our services. We also plan to expand our reach into new geographies and markets, both within India (focusing on Tier-I and Tier-III cities), UAE, and Mozambique, exploring new industries and sectors where our services can provide the most value, such as agriculture, logistics and transportation. Furthermore, to stay ahead we will continue building on our existing partnerships and forge new ones with leading companies in the energy and technology field.
