In conversation with Ranganathan B, Founder & CTO, Everest Engineering.

Tell us about your professional background and experiences. What factors influenced you to establish Everest Engineering?
I did my graduation in Civil engineering. In my final year of engineering, I got very interested in programming and did my final year project in AI. It was back in 2004. I worked with many global software engineering companies. Later I became interested in building digital products and was associated with companies in that space. I was working in a Leadership position at a public company. At that time, it
was going through an acquisition. I took a break and went to the Everest base camp. It gave me a lot of time to think. So, I decided that I wanted to come back and work with great people building amazing products. Everest Engineering started from there.

I am generally excited about working with great people, learning from them, and sharing my learnings with them. There are many things to learn from people at different experience levels

How would you define Everest Engineering as an organization, and where is it positioned in the industry? What are the company’s greatest strengths and unique propositions that it offers to its clients?
Everest Engineering is a community of some of the best free thinking, collaborative, and innovative technology developers in the industry who use a people first approach to help businesses be more agile and grow faster. We are on a mission to be one of if not the best software agency in the world. We want to highlight people’s working life, focusing on a supportive environment to promote professional development and great partnerships with each other and our clients.

Our promises are;(i)Team: We create a great place to work interesting and varied work and a place to learn and grow supported by the people around you. (ii)Customers: We deliver excellent outcomes that help them achieve their business goals and feel like it’s an incredible journey, working and learning together. (iii)Company: We offer our values of longevity and integrity.(iv)Community: We contribute to the world we live in, to leave things a little better by being in it. We can start by contributing to our industry by sharing experiences and knowledge, but we hope to do more over time.

Tell us about the difference you’re making in your current position. What would you consider as unique about your leadership style?
In my current position, my job is to act like a plumber. The whole organization is a set of people collaborating on a larger mission and making many decisions. Leaders are part of the organization to help make better decisions and remove bottlenecks. When you take a hierarchical approach, you may push your decision over the organization and hinder many other better decisions. I will position myself to ensure people are being heard, the decision flow is smoother, bottle necks are removed and enable plat forms to make better decisions. That is why I call myself a plumber.

As CTO, what technological approaches have you developed that have brought financial success to the company?
I feel it is more of a collective effort. Many companies focus on the latest tech to solve every problem they face. I have a different perspective on that. It is definitely important to stay in touch with the latest technology. To solve a problem, it is
more about who is going to maintain it. We can use fancy technology to solve a problem; when something breaks, it becomes extremely hard to fix. Understanding if the clients are equipped with the right people and tools to maintain the software is crucial. This will make the customer successful, and we will become a part of it.

How do you assess its effectiveness when deploying new technology to enhance Everest Engineering’s services and strengthen customer satisfaction?
We first try to understand if our customers understand their problems. If not, we want to partner with them and try to understand it together. Then we try to add value to the customer by streamlining the process and making the development faster. We share our experiences. We then collect continuous and internal feedback and improve based on that. We need a unique structure, great people, and a streamlined process. We work on the feed back with the customer, which makes us more effective.

What makes you happy and satisfied as an entrepreneur
I am generally excited about working with great people, learning from them, and sharing my learnings with them. There are many things to learn from people at different experience levels.

I also feel great when my colleagues grow both professionally and personally. I hear great stories from them and feel proud of them.

When a few customers come to us with challenging problems within a few months or weeks, we solve them. Then they come back to us, go around, and say good things about us. It gives quite a good satisfaction.

What are the longterm objectives of Everest Engineering? Does the company intend to launch any innovative technology in the near future?
We want to grow Everest Engineering as a significant global community with many, greater people. We also want to contribute better to the planet and people. We are looking for some plans there.

We are planning to build a few open-source software that can help many people beyond the Everest community.
