Take us through your illustrious professional journey. What drives you today as an industry leader?
I have spent illustrious 22+ years of my professional journey into the corporate governance and legal domain. I started my career with Unitech and then moved on to JK Group. I have been associated with Jubilant Group, Fortis Healthcare Group, Bharti Airtel and Crystal Crop Protection. Currently, I am positioned as the VP -Legal, CS & Compliance Officer of Radico Khaitan. What drives me today, I guess, is the ability to refine the legal operations model to incre
ase the effectiveness of legal function delivery and developing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Tell us about Radico Khaitan and its position in the market and also your role in the organization
Radico Khaitan is one of the oldest and largest alcobev companies in India with strong global footprints. We have some of the best known brands being served in domestic and international markets including Rampur Indian Single Malt whisky, Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin, Royal Ranthambore Whisky, Magic Moments Vodka, Morpheus XO Brandy, 8PM and 8PM Premium Black Whisky, 1965 Spirit of Victory Rum, Old Admiral Brandy, Contessa Rum, After Dark Premium Whisky, and others. It is a vibrant and fast growing Indian company.

What are the latest technological trends & innovative solutions you have implemented in the companies you work for? How did those innovations help the companies to grow?
I believe in utilizing the technology to the fullest and have implemented various tools and software tracking litigation, legal issues and legal compliances within the organization, that really transform the legal and compliance function. New and complex regulation and reforms are being brought in. Technological innovations have created abundant opportunities for legal domain. What challenges did you face initially while developing technological & strategical changes within the organization? Also, do you see there is a change in the role of legal and compliance professional?
The major challenge has been to convince the people about the advantages of the latest innovations. It takes a lot of efforts to change their perspective towards the new way of working. Legal professionals are expected to possess updated knowledge and for that they can utilize various cutting edge tech solutions. Keeping themselves fully updated and also training other functions about the changes in legal landscape is challenging task which the inhouse legal professional carry smoothly.
Moreover, the role of legal & compliance professional is changing rapidly. As compare to past, where we were considered as subject matter expert and our consultation was limited to only specific issues, we are now expected to add value by providing holistic advice,manage risks ensure timely compliances and improve overall governance of the organization.
How has been your professional journey and what is your functional expertise across various organizations?
The journey has been very exciting. From Board Management, Compliance Management, IPR Management to Litigation Management, I enjoy working at all sphere of my function. Throughout my career so far, I have a Project person and really enjoyed contributed well in numerous projects of very high ticket size at various organization including, corporate restructuring, fund raising, overseas acquisitions, business recoveries, litigations, compliances. Negotiating and managing the Contract lifecycle is also an important function of which a legal professional cannot ignore particularly after Covid-19.
