Tell us about your professional background and experiences. What inspired you to venture into the cancer cure segment?
I completed an internal medicine residency after graduating from medical school, followed by an oncology fellowship and have over 30 years of experience as a Medical Oncologist. I have undergone advanced training in autologous BMT, palliative cancer care, advanced nutri tion course, intra arterial chemotherapy clinical exchange program, advanced nutrition course allogenic and non-myeloablative transplantation, and immune compromised infections of cancer. I have been actively involved in developing the hematology and bone marrow transplantation field in Karnataka, leading the largest and most successful bone marrow transplant Service in Bangalore.

The inherent challenges in oncology inspired me which included the integration of immunology, genomics, infections, tumor biology and statistics. The need for
democratized innovation the increased importance of precision medicine increasing attention to value and complex and rapidly changing treatment paradigms, inspired me to take up oncology.

With Sammprada Cancer Care, I am to establish a range of services & programs for cancer patients or people at risk for cancer and their families to promote cancer prevention, the highest degree of health & wellness, & the best quality of life in all phases of the disease process

Define Sammprada Cancer Care as an organization, and how is it different from other cancer cure hospitals present in the country?
At Sammprada, we believe there's a better approach to cancer care one that heals all of you. We work with a consistent team dedicated to each patient's personalized care plan. Sammprada is a peaceful and aesthetically appealing space that promotes feeling cared for, facilitates wellness, and is free of stress with low infection rates. We use the latest research, treatments & technology while provide comprehensive, innovative care and access to clinical trials. We have provided highly specialized treatment and care for cancer with expertise and experience for over three decades. We have a multi faceted approach to cancer treatment, including organ site focus and a multi disciplinary team approach.

We practice advanced oncology by keeping up with the current research. We personalize therapies to each patient's ability to tolerate the treatment through our expertise and experience. Before giving specific anticancer treatment, we try to control the symptoms and improve the patient's quality of life so that they can tolerate the anticancer treatment better. We follow a multi disciplinary approach with other onco specialists like surgical, radiation, radiology, nutrition and palliation.

Reflect on some of the significant challenges you have experienced in your journey. How did you overcome them, and what did you
learn from them?
Advanced training is necessary, which is expensive, and months are lost to patient care in the existing practice. Balancing adverse events of anti-cancer therapies with the benefits to the patients while optimizing the cost is also prohibitive in many cases. To overcome this, I had to analyze and audit my cases, and, through experience, I came up with innovations in therapies. Acquiring and retaining a trained workforce is critical in cancer care. The oncology treatment cost is enormous due to the drugs involved, repeated admissions and multifaceted approach. The system has been unable to keep up with the upward curve in terms of cost. The oncologists are stressed as they need to manage and understand purchasing the right drugs, storage, safe handling, and inventory costs. They involve trained staff mixing and administering the drugs while delivering quality care. Due to the enormous costs involved, there's little place for errors.

What is the current position of India in terms of providing outstanding cancer cure facilities at a global level? What goals do you wish to invest in, and how do you plan to take them further?
Unlike earlier, India now has many comprehensive cancer centers in public and private spaces. A lot of oncologists are getting trained and coming into practice. All the imaging and lab facilities, including genomics and PET scans, are available in most cities of India. Even research facilities are expanding, and cancer epidemiology and palliation have developed strongly in bigger cities. Specialized procedures like BMT, Robotic Surgery, and Cyber knife radiation are increasingly available in the country.

I aim to establish Sammprada as a model center of integrative oncology maintaining wellness, maximizing health and complementing the best oncologic practices and scientific research. We plan on developing individualized treatment protocols. By integrating care, research, and collaboration at all levels, we can improve the patient's opportunities for the best outcomes and advance the field of BMT.
