In this fast-paced environment, where businesses and industries are growing constantly, a reflection of the booming growth and potential of the hospitality sector in India is quite enthralling to witness. It has even more accelerated after the lull created by the pandemic in the past few years. Conclusively, as per IBEF, the Indian tourism and hospitality industry to creating a robust demand rising from an estimated $75 billion market in 2020 to $125 billion by 2027, followed by the influx of international tourists in India i.e., estimated to reach 30.5 million by 2028. Manish Kapoor, Founder & Director of Amaira Resorts & Hotels a hospitality sales & marketing organization that provides offline & online representation and reservation services to independent stand alone hotels & chain properties, is dynamically contributing to it through his entity.

Recently, the CEO Insights magazine team had a great interview with Manish to know about his accomplishing professional endeavors in the hospitality industry.

Could you give a brief account of your professional background and experiences? What is the motivation that fuels your daily routines?
I started working while I was still in my graduation. I along with my brother started summer camps for school children which was a unique and still unheard concept in Delhi-NCR. I feel those were the most formative years for me when I realized what line of work I'd want to be in for the rest of my life. I joined the Tourism Marketing course after graduating and got recruited by Cidade de Goa as a Sales Executive in 1996. The journey since then has been great from Cidade de Goa to Amaira Resorts & Hotels.

But what keeps me going is still the same since I used to run those summer camps nothing energizes me more than a happy guest. A lot of aspirations are associated with
every booking one makes and delivering beyond the expectation is what my team & I strive for.

You possess over twenty seven years of experience. How has your path to success been and what is your success mantra?
As I said the journey has been wonderful. Starting as a Sales Executive with Cidade de Goa my first love, and rising through the ranks over 20 years to Director sales was probably the most fulfilling journey but I had to work tirelessly to achieve that goal. Having worked in the industry for over 25 years and heading Sales team for over 10 years, I felt it was a logical step to take and give my career an entrepreneurial direction. It finally took shape in 2019. We recently completed 4 years and I must say it's been a very fulfilling journey so far and infact, quite a Roller coaster ride with a portfolio of over 20 hotels in less than a year followed by the pandemic and then with a shot of adrenalin with revenge tourism. But what has been the most motivating factor has been our team and associated hotels that stood together and continued to have faith in each other.

How would you define Amaira Resorts & Hotels as an organization and its current position in the market?
In Hotels, operations, and marketing are two very specialized jobs and the industry invariably struggles with a situation where a wonderful product fails to achieve its potential because of the absence of the right sales team. That is where Amaira Resorts & Hotels comes in. It's an outsourced centralized sales and marketing office for such properties. We are currently amongst top five
such companies in India and of course, the target is to be the best in the segment.

Tell us about your flagship offerings and what value additions customers can expect from your offerings.
We are careful to select the hotels we associate with. It is very important for us that the property that we associate with shares our passion for creating happy guest experiences.

Our flagship offering to have a dedicated sales and reservations team which means that Amaira Resorts & Hotels goes incognito for a typical caller and the guest or travel partner gets the same feeling as interacting directly with the property. This enhances the level of personalization is a more professional form to represent your property and the decision-making becomes faster.

Tell us about your leadership and governance approach. What are the guidelines you follow as a leader?
The fact that I started as an executive and progressed over the years really help me connect with my team at various ranks. However, I have an old-school disciplined approach at work and that's what I try to inculcate in my team. It gets difficult to reason with the current gen young workforce but I have been lucky to be able to get through to most of them.

I believe that one of my foremost responsibility towards my team is to guide them right for a successful professional life. It doesn't matter if our association is for life but what matters is that I'm able to instill the right qualities in them to become industry leaders of the future.

What is the future destination you are heading towards?
I'd definitely want Amaira Resorts & Hotels to forge an international association in near future. India has become a strong leisure outbound market for many countries and it makes more sense now than ever before for properties that see India as a strong contributor to their business to have its representation in India.
