Being a country divided by religions and united by cultures, India has been known as a traditionally hospitable country with its humble community of people welcoming guests with open hands. Though hospitality is known to be the very essence of India, transforming it into a commercial industry is attributed to westernization and rapid economic development and unmatched talent of the hospitality leaders, who can fiercely increase the capabilities and stimulate the growth of this sector.

Hospitality: The Sunrise Industry
Being a sunrise industry, hospitality and tourism holds a huge potential for manifold growth in the near future. It is one of the most profitable, accounting for more than eight percent of the country’s workforce and has created nearly 15 million jobs in the last few years. Additionally, it is one of the top sectors that attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country. Owing to these factors, currently the hospitality industry in India is seeing a tremendous growth however, was slightly hampered by the impact of global pandemic in 2020. However, after the last wave of COVID, people started increasingly going on staycations, long weekend getaways, and also social gatherings such as weddings, which has resulted in a sharp growth for the hospitality sector. Also, besides leisure travel, the sector saw revenues coming in from corporate travel as businesses restarted after lock-downs, and this led to the faster recovery of this sector.
Additionally, the rapid growth in infrastructure as well as the governments push to make India a global manufacturing hub under its Make-in-India initiative, has boosted the construction around country with better road infrastructure, especially in holiday destinations like hill regions. This has leveraged a much needed boost to road travel and also grabs the attention of foreign tourists toward India that ultimately drives the growth among the services sector in India.
