Investment In Tech And Life Sciences Primary Motive Of UK Investment Minister's Visit To India

Dominic Johnson, the UK's investment minister, arrived in India on Wednesday to boost investment in the technology and life sciences sectors and lend momentum to current trade talks between the UK and India. The visit coincides with the ninth round of discussions between the two countries on a free trade agreement.

During his visit, Johnson will meet with investors and major Indian companies in Bengaluru and Pune, including Infosys and Zensar, to advocate investment in the UK. He will also promote the Global Investment Summit 2023, which will highlight UK achievements in life sciences, deep technology, nuclear fusion, and manufacturing.

Over £28 billion has already been invested in each other's economy through the UK-India investment partnership, supporting over 500,000 employment. Total trade between the nations amounted to £34 billion in the four quarters leading up to Q3 2022, a 51.7% rise over the previous year, making India the UK's 12th largest trading partner.
