L'Oreal, a French personal care company, announced its entry into the Indian dermocosmetic market on Sept 21, introducing L'Oreal Dermatological Beauty (LDB) in the country. According to a company statement, LDB, a new division for the Indian market, will bring products to dermatologists, patients, and consumers. CeraVe, a leading dermatologist-recommended skincare brand in the US market, will kick off its journey in India.

According to Aseem Kaushik, Managing Director of L'Oreal India, the entry is significant for India, where the dermatologist-to-consumer ratio is one of the lowest in the world (0.7 dermatologists for every 1,000 people).

"We believe that expert dermatological care and effective skincare solutions should be available to everyone." Skin health is the foundation of beauty, and with LDB, we hope to fulfil our promise to both Indian dermatologists and patients," he says.

LDB collaborates with over 250,000 healthcare professionals worldwide, including leading dermatologists, to develop cutting-edge solutions that can accompany patients on their skin health journey.

These collaborations include improved product development, clinical research, and education and training. L'Oreal India is a 100% subsidiary of L'Oreal SA.

Since 1994, it has had 13 brands in the Indian market, including L'Oreal Paris, Garnier, Maybelline New York, NYX Professional Makeup, Matrix, Kerastase, Cheryl's Cosmeceuticals, and Redken.
