Samsung R&D Institute Joins Forces with IIT Kanpur for AI and Tech Research

SamsungSamsung R&D Institute, Noida (SRI-Noida), revealed the signing of a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K). The collaboration will emphasize essential growth areas, encompassing joint research initiatives involving IIT Kanpur students, faculty, and Samsung engineers. The objective is to prepare students for the industry by focusing on diverse fields such as health, visual technology, framework development, B2B security, and advanced technologies like cloud computing and generative artificial intelligence (genAI).

In addition to engaging in research projects, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) also focuses on enhancing the skills of Samsung engineers in critical technology domains like AI, Cloud, and emerging technologies. Kyungyun Roo, Managing Director of SRI-Noida, emphasized the commitment to combining academic excellence with industrial innovation, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the industry. The collaboration involves addressing real-world industry challenges through joint research projects, aligning with current market demands, and also working on Digital India-related solutions.

Prof. S. Ganesh, Director of IIT Kanpur, highlighted the synergy between the academic excellence of IIT Kanpur and the industry expertise of Samsung India. The collaboration aims to create a dynamic environment for cutting-edge projects and offers valuable opportunities for students and researchers. Joint research papers will be encouraged, and the collaboration seeks to contribute to technological advancements.

Prof. Tarun Gupta, Dean of Research and Development at IIT Kanpur, emphasized the commitment to providing students and researchers with opportunities beyond academics, contributing significantly to technological advancements and the growth of the institute's academic landscape. As part of upskilling opportunities for Samsung engineers, IIT Kanpur will conduct specialized training programs in various domains, leveraging the institute's expertise. This will include degree programs, certifications, and tailored courses to enhance the skills and knowledge of Samsung engineers.
