Germany beat Brazil 7-1 in the semi-finals before bringing Argentina to their knees in a nail-biting final that they won 1-0 after extra time. But the real hero, the 12th man during their dream run was big data analytics. Using SAP HANA, Germany recognized their average ball possession time and reduced it from 3.4 seconds to 1.1 seconds. If big data and analytics can help win the world cup in 2014, imagine what it can achieve now. Today, big data has become bulk data, and data-driven solutions are transforming businesses across the world. Connectivity is a critical piece of modern data architecture. Hailing from Bengaluru, Bipin boasts of a stellar academic career and an equally envious professional career. A BE (in Computer Science) from Bengaluru University, Bipin is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and GlobalNXT University. He is a Doctoral Scholar at the Swiss School of Business & management, pursuing his Master’s in Business Law at NLSIU, Bengaluru.

Before incubating CData India in 2018, Bipin left the trails of an excellent professional career, spanning close to two decades and deep-rooted industry experience across Product Engineering, Enterprise & Engineering Mobility, Telecom & Media, Education, and Publishing domains, managing leading-edge product development for key customers. In his prior roles as Principal Consultant and IOT Evangelist, Bipin was helping customers early on their IOT roadmap to strategize and position Tech Mahindra’s deep IOT expertise to bootstrap adoption.

He worked closely with the Sales division in the East US and Canada to extend Tech Mahindra’s product engineering capabilities and digital footprint to Technology customers. Bringing deep technical expertise into the Enterprise Mobility and Product Engineering space, Bipin has helped conceptualize several cross-vertical innovative solutions for the customers. He was also driving solution tracks for Aerospace and consolidating industry engineering solutions for an IoT platform(s), not to mention his stint with Wipro as a senior Media consultant and rich experience in solutioning and architecting large Enterprise Systems. Bipin has a patent application filed on Video analytics & object recognition and a couple of Invention Disclosures on Custom Spooling and HPGL2 Performance.

Having worked for SI giants like Wipro & Tech Mahindra for 12 and 5 years, respectively, Bipin has been a technology generalist who has
pioneered multiple products and solutions spanning different technologies and domains. One of the most vital skills he carries is immaculate self-discipline and infectious energy that he brings to work and the environment around him. He believes that his relentless pursuit of learning, positive outlook and selflessness keeps him in the right space of mind and helps him succeed in all that he picks up. How has your journey been so far? Tell us about the different roles & responsibilities that you have been undertaking.
It has been a wonderful experience to be associated with CData and to bring the India entity to life in a quick time. CData Software is a leading provider of data access and connectivity solutions. Intelligent automation has been a part of our DNA and is at the heart of everything that we do. We are always confident in our business and the products.

India Operations have been unique in many ways. Getting the right set of individuals first-up to integrate with the global CData culture was the priority. We have been incredibly careful in the initial years to ensure we had an excellent foundation to scale our operations. Since we bootstrapped everything from scratch, I got exposed to anything and everything that goes around setting up an entity here in India, be it statutes, operations, finance, recruitment, people practices, or engineering. Customer success and sales. I turned out to be a hands-on leader in all of these areas, ensuring that we set up an organic foundation for growth, keeping learning at the core.

What did covid-19 mean for you? What have been the challenges?
Covid had been unprecedented in many ways to most businesses across the globe. We were no different, and we had to react quickly to changes around us daily, keep our policies fluid, and continue with our growth story. Our focus on keeping learning at the core helped us overcome this phase unprecedentedly. We relied on referral-based hirings, created a lot of knowledge assets that can be delivered in a self-serve fashion, and continued to hire and scale strategically function by function. It paid off. We grew more than 200 percent during the period. A lot of credit goes to the individuals in our teams globally who had to struggle to strike a balance and keep things going. We are glad to have such a team at the helm.

How do you ensure that CData Software specialization reaches every client in the best way possible?
Being a product company and focused on our core business, we have made a lot of efforts over the past few years to automate everything that we do and churn out products quickly. This helps us stay with the curve in bringing needed technology advancements and upgrades to our products. We focus very heavily on customer success, which has helped us create a lot of trust with our existing and swelling customer base. With the India operations growing, we intend to focus a lot on the APAC region and work on multiple fronts, be it brand awareness, community building, evolving our partner ecosystem, and getting associated on industry forums like FICCI, ASSOCHAM, and NASSCOM.
How do you keep yourself updated with the latest happenings in Information Technology so that you can continue propelling your organization ahead?
As I mentioned, learning is the core of everything we do, and we tend to automate everything. This helps us stay with the curve and gives us good leverage to innovate. You will see several products coming out of our stable every quarter. We ensure that connectivity is simplified and access unified across the technology spectrum.

Tell us about your milestone achievements that give you maximum satisfaction both as a person as well as an entrepreneur.
We always had a vision around our India operations, and I am glad that things have turned out to be even better than what we planned. Individually, it is a huge encouragement to see your vision and strategies falling in place. You are always in a good space at a personal level with a fantastic group of people rallying with you and an open global leadership supporting you in your pursuits. More than all that we achieved, I firmly believe that the mini setbacks in this journey were excellent learning experiences and something that I will cherish for a long time personally.

On a personal front, I am glad that I got exposed to initiatives and opportunities wherein I had the freedom to try and support failures. A failed product idea early on, a failed program in my first attempt in the techno-sales role, and a failed first attempt as an entrepreneur had an enormous impact on all the successes I had in my journey this far. I am glad that I failed many times, learned, and bettered myself. I have always been a leader who opts for the backseat on all the successes and takes the setbacks on the face. I am glad to have lived this journey.

Going forward, what are the opportunities that you foresee?
We are at an interesting phase as an industry with the GenZ coming into the ecosystem and bringing in a significant amount of energy, positive outlook, and enthusiasm. We as an industry need to make sure that we are open to change and embrace this with all positivity. This would be the moment if there were ever a suitable time to redefine and shape the Indian IT story aligned towards incubating products and not just services. All should strive to seize this.
