These visionaries understand that true success lies not only in financial gains but also in the preservation of our planet and the well-being of future generations. With an unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, they are pioneering innovative practices that harmonize economic growth with ecological integrity. Meet Senthil Sankar, a dynamic individual hailing from the bustling city of Chennai, India.

A serendipitous encounter with a Formula One race on television sparked a deep fascination with cars, propelling Senthil on a journey of mechanical engineering. Choosing VIT University, he embraced the vibrant international community and seized opportunities to fuel his passion for automobiles. After graduating with top honors, Senthil's path took an unexpected turn when a transformative movie experience awakened his entrepreneurial spirit, leading him to join his father's venture, Shree Renga Polymers. Engaging in an idiosyncratic interaction with CEO Insights, Senthil shares the imperious details of his professional journey, the future roadmap and his vision for Shree Renga Polymers.

Could you tell us about the unique experiences Vellore Institute of Technology offers and what did you learned from the campus beyond academics?
VIT, a sanctuary of knowledge and diversity, holds a special place in my heart. Its allure lies in the fusion of cultures and ideas, drawing students from every corner of India and beyond, and it provided me with invaluable opportunities to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Beyond the boundaries of its campus, VIT's alumni network weaves a tapestry of connections that span the globe.

VIT's vibrant ecosystem nurtured my personal growth and self-discovery. Through its rich tapestry of extra curricular activities and academic
pursuits, I expanded my horizons and unearthed hidden talents. Its distinguished reputation, coupled with the nurturing environment it offers, has shaped me into the person I am today.

How would you define Shree Renga
Polymers as an organization and its current position in the market?

Established in 2008, Shree Renga Polymers was born out of an opportunity my father found in Karur. Our early focus centered on collecting PET bottles and converting them into hot wash pet flakes, a crucial component in polyester fiber production.

By harnessing innovation and embracing sustain ability, we can build enterprises that not only thrive but also contribute to the greater good of society

In 2010-2011, I made a pivotal career decision, leaving TCS to join our family venture. During this period, we expanded our operations, increasing recycling capacity by 1.5 times and establishing a master batch plant. However, our most significant stride came in 2014 when we took a bold step and invested in manufacturing recycled polyester fiber. Sustainability was gaining momentum, and we foresaw the promise it held. Over coming challenges with self-belief and the unwavering support of our dedicated team, we successfully transformed Shree Renga Polymers into a prominent manufacturer of recycled polyester fibers by 2016-17.

Tell us about your flagship offerings and what differentiates you from the competitors in the market?
As the only company in India incorporating post consumer PET bottles into our production, we take immense pride in offering a comprehensive range of polyester fiber, yarns, fabrics, and garments under one brand. Our Ecoline Clothing embodies our commitment to sustainability, circularity, and fostering consumer awareness of responsible consumption. Through education and sustainable choices, we strive to contribute to a more sustainable future for our industry.

Distinguishing us is our pioneering use of dope-dyed technology, where our polyester fibers are colored during the fiber-making process. This innovative approach reduces energy consumption and minimizes
water pollution, making it a greener alternative to conventional dyeing methods.

What is the future destination you are heading towards?
Our vision revolves around converting recycled bottles into high-quality garments under our brand Ecoline and selling them globally. Sustainability is a global concern that transcends borders, making Ecoline's appeal universal. To further enhance our environmental impact, we are actively researching and developing biodegradable polyesters for our garments. This ongoing work will enable the polyester fibers in Ecoline garments to degrade within two to three years, addressing concerns about post-consumer waste. By focusing on Ecoline and emphasizing sustainability, we are confident in our potential to create a billion-dollar company.

In the light of your strong experience within the industry, what advice would you give to the budding industry leaders?
I've noticed a concerning trend among VIT alumni, many of them have completed their bachelor's degrees and pursued master's degrees abroad, only to settle in foreign countries and work there. This ‘brain drain’ is disheartening to me, both from a patriotic standpoint and in terms of its economic implications. I firmly believe that once we receive education and knowledge from our country, it is our duty to give back and contribute to its development. I am confident that the 21st century belongs to India, and I want to encourage my fellow VIT alumni and young individuals to prioritize India in their career choices.

I am particularly optimistic about entrepreneurship in India. The next 30 years hold immense promise, given our young population's aspirations and the remarkable potential for innovation. By betting on India and introducing unique ideas, we can increase our chances of success.
