By 2021,the Indian media and entertainment business would have grown to $40 billion, with a compound annual growth rate of 12 percent. With the growing importance of digital media, the sector is undergoing a significant transition. The opening up of the print media sector is a key step forward in the path of economic liberalization. India's magazine business is going through a difficult period, the key issue is greater Internet penetration and adoption in the country. Also, India currently has 49,000 publications and generates $1.1 billion in income.

Sitara Suresh Naidu has been in the media industry for almost half a decade and has managed to progress at every step of the way, and her previous experiences have turned her into the businesswoman she is today. Her knowledge has drastically improved over the years, from understanding the art of discovering esoteric narrative ideas to managing a staff of authors and pushing one another. CEO Insights interviewed Sitara Suresh Naidu (Founder) of The Millennial Hub, wherein she enlightened us about her professional journey and the evolution towards being a leader in the Media and Entertainment Sector.

How has been your journey so far? What are the major challenges faced by you in your professional journey so far and how did you overcome those to evolve as a business leader?
My upbringing instilled in me the desire to do what is best for individuals in my immediate vicinity. My journey has been exhilarating, from losing my father at a young age to standing up for what is right in a patriarchal society and breaking free from stereotyped restraints along the way. One of the most difficult tasks was simply surviving, as well as creating a balance between my personal financial problems and my employment and I overcome the difficulties by viewing them as opportunities to grow.
What are the various kinds of roles and responsibilities you have been playing in the company?
One of the best decisions I have ever made was founding The Millennial Hub and holding the fort together, I also serve as the Editor-in-Chief, drawing on my experience as a journalist. One of my main responsibilities is leading a team of eight reporters and brainstorming with them to find the best angle for their story ideas. Taking care of the paper work and collaborating with our marketing staff is also a rewarding experience. However, if it weren't for the Head of Business Development, Arjun Gopal, and Public Relations Manager, Vivian John Thenguvila, as well as my personal adviser, Jinnendraa Gowda, the magazine's smooth operation would be tough.

Society today is witnessing the evolution of women entrepreneurship. What is your perspective towards it? Share your experience of being a women business person.
The fact that this is an interview question demonstrates how much women have been undervalued. An entrepreneur must be driven, believe in what they are doing, and be concentrated on achieving daily goals, as well as setting higher goals as you achieve the ones you have already set. Entrepreneurs are bold, strong, and innovative people and women have always possessed these qualities. All I ask is that you respect us as entrepreneurs, not as ‘woman’ entrepreneurs. Being a female entrepreneur has been difficult; when we speak passionately about our business, we are frequently misconstrued as ‘easy targets’.

Several potential clients of the opposite gender have assured me that they will ‘help' me. We don't require assistance! We must have our voices heard! We need to be seen as entrepreneurs, not as needy people.

What you still need to know, as the
alchemist put it, is that before a dream comes true, the Soul of the World puts all you have learnt to the test. It does this not because it is evil, but rather so that, in addition to attaining our aspirations, we can perfect the lessons we've learned along the way. That is the moment at which one 'dies of thirst just as the palm trees appear on the horizon, as we say in desert dialect.

Also, tell us about your personal achievements at The Millennial Hub and the business transformation you led via those achievements?
My mentors and family are the reason for what I am today and I feel I owe it to them. At The Millennial Hub, there is no such thing as personal achievement because each of us who contribute to our publication is one of TMH's pillars. In a short period, the Millennial Hub has generated over 1.5 million page views (15 lakh) and 7.5 thousand new visitors through organic means. We are brutally honest in our stories, and our readers' acceptance of this is tremendously satisfying. We have hope that we are on the right track because we have been able to reach so many readers around the world without using sponsored advertisements.

As a female leader, how are you influencing and inspiring others in and around your professional and personal stratum?
I have always believed that it is only women who can stand up for each other, support each other and grow towards a progressive world. The Millennial Hub has collaborated with the creator of #WeToo, Poonam Thakkar. #WeToo is a movement that empowers women by allowing them to speak openly about their experiences. There is no naming and shaming; instead, we concentrate on the experience and consider how we might assist one another. I consider myself to be a sensible feminist; feminism, in my opinion, isn't a 'hate-men' campaign; rather, it is our fight to eliminate gender norms!
