
SpiceJet Boosts Fleet With Overhauled Engines, Ungrounds Boeing 737 NG

International Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) provider StandardAero has delivered the first two of 17 rebuilt engines to SpiceJet, a well-known Indian airline, marking a major milestone in the airline's fleet revitalization efforts.
Together with the successful ungrounding of another Boeing 737 NG, this breakthrough represents a significant step forward in the airline's plan to increase operational capacity and phased-in fleet restoration.
The airline announced that, as part of its extensive fleet rejuvenation strategy, it had received two crucial engines.
Among these is a CFM LEAP-1B engine that was restored at StandardAero's factory in Houston, USA, and powers the cutting-edge Boeing 737 MAX airplane.
A Q400 engine was also delivered to SpiceJet and serviced at StandardAero's facility in Singapore. A total of 17 engines were sent to different MRO partners for overhaul as part of a wider project, of which these deliveries constitute the first parts.

Last month, SpiceJet successfully put another Boeing 737 NG back into operation concurrently with the engine receipts.
The airline's dedication to methodically resuming operations of its grounded aircraft to increase its available capacity for passenger and cargo services is further reinforced by this ungrounding.
As part of its fleet resurrection strategy, SpiceJet is carefully upgrading and reintroducing its aircraft's engines. Six CFM LEAP-1B engines were shipped to StandardAero's Houston facility expressly for the Boeing 737 MAX fleet out of the 17 engines that were delivered for overhaul. At the same time, seven Q400 engines were sent to StandardAero's facilities in Singapore to assist with the airline's regional turboprop flights. with order to aid with the recovery of other grounded Boeing 737 NG aircraft, four engines were also sent to Carlyle Aviation.
SpiceJet expects a steady supply of the remaining repaired engines in the upcoming months after the first two engines were successfully received. It is anticipated that this consistent flow will greatly improve the airline's operational preparedness and allow it to deploy additional aircraft, expanding its network and frequency of flights.
