A New Benchmark in Healthcare Management Education

Education is not a solo effort. It requires a cooperative approach that goes beyond the institutions and borders. Such an approach is imperative in curriculum, the core of education, keeping up with the industry trends and simulating the corporate/ industrial experience to prepare students for a successful professional career. The business world is becoming more competitive and demanding, and it is no secret that candidates have to meet higher expectations. This leads us to one of the most debated topics in the world: the gap between industry and academia. This makes constantly updating
the curriculum vital to a student’s development. In fact, it also sets apart the best of academic institutions from the good ones.

Let’s take the case of healthcare. Modern-day healthcare is nothing like what it used to be. If doctors could find a balance between their practice and hospital management, with the number of footfalls and range of healthcare needs, it would be a nearly impossible thing to do today. We need more hospital management professionals.

Xavier School of Management (XLRI or formerly Xavier Labour Relations Institute) one of the best management schools in India, is setting a new benchmark in hospital management education by joining hands with the Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Management Sciences, a constituent institute of the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research in Chennai, to offer courses on healthcare management. XLRI and Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Management Sciences will jointly develop and offer various academic and professional programs designed to meet the growing demand for skilled healthcare management professionals.
