Sarvesh Chandirani: 17-Year-Old Innovator Driving Sustainability In Travel

Sarvesh Chandirani, Founder, EcoTrekka, 0

In an age where most teenagers are still discovering their interests, a high school student’s vision had already begun shaping the future of sustainable travel. With a rare blend of curiosity and awareness, this young innovator chose to explore how technology and conscious choices could make travel kinder to the planet. While many peers planned their next holiday, his thoughts were instead focused on how those holidays could be made greener.

What began as a spark of curiosity soon evolved into a quest to bring together technology, information and environmental awareness with an aim of making a difference that was significant. His purpose was clear: to make sustainability intuitive and reachable to all. It was this exceptional combination of young imagination and responsible innovation that resulted in EcoTrekka created by Sarvesh Chandirani, a 17-year-old pioneer who made sustainable travel a reality.

As a student and an entrepreneur, Sarvesh balances his energies in pursuing his passion in technology, innovation, and environment to actualize his ideas. Growing up in a family steeped in the travel business introduced him to the inner workings of the travel industry. He soon realized that there was a gap between the conventional process of planning a trip and taking care of the environment.

Driven by the increasing efforts of his generation (Gen Z) to be more environmentally conscious, Sarvesh decided to create an end-to-end product that can assist travellers in making better, more sustainable decisions.

Curiosity 12 and self-directed education in areas such as carbon tracking, user experience, and green innovation have become the guiding principles of EcoTrekka’s mission to change the way the world travels into a responsible journey.

We are delighted to feature an exclusive interview with the young innovator, Sarvesh, who takes us through his entrepreneurial journey and more.

How did you reach out or engage with key figures in the industry to garner their support for your endeavor?

While building EcoTrekka, I actively engaged in the technology and sustainability sectors. I collaborated with mentors from airline global distribution systems to refine prototypes and integrate sustainability data, ensuring technical scalability.

Simultaneously, I partnered with Indian NGOs focused on reforestation, farmer livelihoods, and water security, aligning EcoTrekka’s mission with verified grassroots impact. These partnerships form the foundation of our responsible travel model.

How are you actively seeking out emerging technological trends to improve your business operations?

At EcoTrekka, innovation stems from curiosity and continuous experimentation. By testing emerging APIs, machine learning models, and feedback loops, we refine our algorithms while staying aligned with trends in generative AI, carbon accounting, and user experience. This approach enables us to drive adaptive innovation and make
sustainability more intuitive and accessible.

What is your leadership approach, and how do you instill that philosophy across every aspect of EcoTrekka?

One of the most valuable lessons I learned from my father is the importance of self-awareness, under standing one’s strengths and weaknesses and surrounding oneself with people who complement those gaps.

He also emphasized the need for continuous learning, reminding me that in order to stay relevant, one must be willing to unlearn and adapt to new trends.

Equally significant is the principle of listening and alignment, taking the time to understand diverse perspectives, fostering unity, and moving forward together with a shared and purposeful vision.

What major technological disruptors do you foresee, and how do you interpret evolving customer behavior and related developments?

I believe the next major disruptor will be the fusion of artificial intelligence and real-time environmental intelligence. Platforms such as EcoTrekka are evolving to provide users with instant insights into their environmental footprint.

As consumers, particularly younger travelers, increasingly align their spending with their values, this transformation is redefining loyalty within the travel industry. The shift from “bucket-list travel” to purpose-driven experiences reflects a growing desire for meaningful journeys that do not compromise on sustainability.

EcoTrekka is uniquely positioned to address this need by integrating climate data and ethical decision-making directly into the booking process.

How do you plan to capitalize these opportunities for your future roadmap?

We have successfully integrated live flights, hotels, and activities within the platform. Moving forward, our initial focus is on analyzing transactional data, under standing user behavior, and implementing data-driven innovations to enhance the user experience.

In the next phase, we aim to expand collaborations with NGOs and leverage automated integrations to scale our carbon offset initiatives. Over time, we also plan to diversify our offerings by introducing products beyond the traditional travel ecosystem.
