In an exclusive interview with CEO Insights, Dr. Radha shares about her early professional experience as well as the underlying idea behind starting Arcane, some of the major challenges faced by her throughout the entrepreneurial journey, and much more.
Tell us about your professional back ground & experiences. What inspired you to venture into the Dermatology segment?
I have done my MBBS and then MD in Dermatology and have an overall 17 years of experience in the medical sector. After my Post Graduation, to get some exposure, I did my cosmetology fellowship in Mumbai. Later I came back and worked at many hospitals to keep myself engaged as well as abreast of the clinical side of dermatology as well. I have also worked as senior consultant at Kaya, one of the most prestigious and reputed brands in Cosmetology, and worked there for almost three years.
The overall experience gave an exposure to the way the industry functions as well as to providing quality treatment to my patients. In dermatology, you always need to thoroughly hear out your patient's concerns, and based on that you
need to decide your treatment approach. However, I always have found that missing in current healthcare practices. My excolleagues as well as seniors have always praised my leadership as well as team-building qualities and have encouraged me to start my venture. So finally in 2019 with my family support and encouragement, I decided to start my entrepreneurial venture and founded Arcane Skin & Hair Clinic.
Define Arcane Skin & Hair Clinic as an organization and how is it different from other Dermatology hospitals present in the country?
Arcane Skin & Hair Clinic is Noida-based kitchen cosmetology, lasers, and dermatology clinic founded in 2019. At Arcane we always ensure that we delivering truly the best standard and quality of skin & hair care. While founding Arcane, I was clear about giving everyone a free space for improvisation as well as feedback while being open to the latest trends and technologies in the sector. At, Arcane quality matters a lot for which i would like to thank each and every one who is working or has ever worked for Arcane.
We only use US FDA-approved machines and technologies. All the machines are safe to use and are thoroughly researched, experimented with, and checked before being used. Even all the staff, technicians, and therapists at Arcane are thoroughly trained for months to get habituated to the way we function, before attending to patients. We are very particular about providing the same consistency in our services to patients throughout all of their sessions and always maintain absolute confidentiality regarding client information.
Reflect on some of the major challenges you have experienced in your journey so far? How did you overcome them & what did you learn from them?
Most doctors in the India aren't taught management skills in medical school. And they receive little on-the-job training to develop
Every patient is a human who could easily be one of our family members. We try to understand and listen our patients or clients & find a solution to their concern. Most of the time You will be able to make the diagnosis if you're carefully listening to your patient's concerns

Most doctors in the India aren't taught management skills in medical school. And they receive little on-the-job training to develop
skills such as how to allocate short and long term resources, how to provide developmental feedback, or how to effectively handle conflict leadership skills needed to run a vibrant business. So as a doctor developing this was quite challenging for me and it was a every leaning for me with Arcane.
And then the pandemic has been one of the biggest challenges that I have faced throughout the overall journey. There was a complete shutdown for months starting from March 2020 owing to the pandemic for almost two & half years. Even after the first wave, people were still scared of visiting places, and convincing them regarding the sanitary condition as well as safety measures taken at the clinic was another big challenge. we had no one to even refer to in terms of following safety guidelines or taking measures.
I usually procure the machines from the US, UK and Korea and the transportation of these machines and their consumables was heavily delayed due to the global lockdown. Another challenge has been constantly updating yourself with the latest trends and technologies.
What are the recent tools and technologies you are using to treat patients more effectively? Going forward, what are the goals that you wish to invest in & how do you plan to take them further?
We use only US FDA approved machines at Arcane. Along with the machines, we also use only the original consumables or spare parts that come with the machines. For all the procedures such as Laser Hair Reduction, Laser Pigmentation, Acne Treatment, Acne scars, Botox filler, Hydrafacial MD and so on. Nowadays, even clients are well aware of the latest technologies and demand the same for their procedures. As a Doctor, I have always strived towards perfectionism. I always want to keep improving and try to deliver more than what is even possible in dermatological science. While it puts a lot of pressure on me, it ensures that my standards of care stay top notch, and allows me and my clinic to improvise. We never stop trying to achieve more and better!
As a doctor, I have always maintained my credibility when it comes to our commitment.
We are planning to bring in the space as we are going to add a lot of other services in terms of expanding this segment. While I have few plans for future, I am still going to give my 100 percent to developing this place before moving into any other verticals. I like creating things that people have never seen or experienced before.
