HIVED – a highly regarded AI-driven parcel delivery startup that is transforming logistics for the ecommerce age – has secured $42 million (£31 million) in a Series B funding round led by NordicNinja, an esteemed investor recognized for supporting logistics innovators such as Bolt and Einride.

Participation also came from Wex Venture Capital, Marunouchi Innovation Partners, Elemental Impact, Yamato Holdings, Future Back Ventures by Bain and Co, Rocketship VC, along with existing investors like Planet A. The proceeds will enable HIVED to accelerate its expansion in the UK, enhance its engineering and data teams, and further develop its unique logistics intelligence platform, HIVEDmind.

Rather than merely adding features, our approach is based on fundamental principles. As the third-largest ecommerce market globally, following China and the US, the UK accounts for approximately 10% of our GDP. However, many logistics companies are ill-equipped for this demand.

They are hindered by the need to retrofit e-commerce capabilities through the addition of smart features to outdated, fragmented systems. In contrast, HIVED has constructed its parcel delivery network specifically designed for ecommerce, starting from scratch. Its platform, HIVEDmind, harnesses AI, real-time data, and a contemporary framework to seamlessly connect retailers, warehouses, drivers, and end customers like never before through a cohesive, fully synchronized end-to-end system.

Retailers directly integrate with real-time sorting in warehouses while routing algorithms adjust to driver behavior and actual conditions. The entire network operates using a completely electric fleet, making it the world’s only fully electric logistics system, and employs dynamic delivery clusters that are constantly redrawn according to live parcel volumes. This approach replaces traditional postcodes with flexible, data-driven boundaries.

All packages are monitored in real-time from the depot to the destination, enabling retailers to gain a comprehensive view of the complete delivery process through dashboards that feature geo-tagged delivery images, behavioral notifications, and detection of fraudulent patterns, such as suspicious repeat purchases, to enhance value and safeguard reputations.

Designed for longevity and adaptability, HIVED's platform, due to its precision, depth, and dynamism, can accurately predict delivery volumes for its clients.

It understands the duration of deliveries in specific neighborhoods, identifies bottlenecks like courtyards or gated buildings that may cause delays, and determines optimal parking spots based on actual behaviors rather than mere theoretical assumptions.

This intricate level of detail is exceptionally challenging to model, yet it is crucial for resolving logistics issues, particularly concerning the last mile. It also contributes to HIVED's significant competitive advantage, positioning it as the UK's leading parcel delivery service on Trustpilot by a wide margin. Shoppers appreciate HIVED so much that offering it as a delivery option is increasingly influencing their decisions between retailers, providing a competitive benefit for its partners as well.
