Being a car enthusiast, he developed his electric car in such a way that it can reduce carbon footprint efficiently as compared to his counterparts.

Himanshu engages in an exclusive interview with CEO Insights.

Throw some light on your professional background and experience. What inspired you to venture into automotive industry and what drives you today?
I have always been an automobile enthusiast, and it was this passion of mine that led me to venture out and start with Triton Electric Vehicle in 2018. I feel strongly towards giving back to the community and addressing its major concerns. Leaders should always cater to the target market. The EV segment is an extremely fast-paced industry, and the desire of being at the top of this humungous mountain drives me every day.

How would you define Triton Electric Vehicle as an organization and its position in the market? What is the unique proposition that your organization offers to clients?
Triton Electric Vehicle is an automotive company which keeps technology at its core. We are a committed team of individuals, and what keeps driving us is our passion towards the automobile sector. We are changing the course of the future by being pioneers in the EV sector, and our sheer focus on sustain ability & carbon footprint reduction is our trump card. We stand out from our competition because we are not dependent on
third party for our parts and components. Everything is inhouse, and that’s a huge advantage. Our technology capability gives us the edge over other players, and while many would claim that their vehicles can cover long distances with just one charge, it’s absolutely not reliable. This has not happened, and will not happen until our vehicles enter the market. EVs right now no matter how the companies market them are for short range only.

If you have a dream, you must make sure to follow it with your heart and soul and keep hustling until you achieve it. Success is a journey, you keep learning from your mistakes, and you keep evolving and progressing

Apart from this, we have our patented technology the Power Home Link, which not only charges your car, but also reduces the dependency on power grids during peak hours, when fossil fuels are used. Not only this, but it also acts as a power backup for the house during power outages, which is still a major issue in India.

What are the major challenges you have experienced in your journey so far? How did you overcome them and what did you learn from them?
Triton EV has constantly been evolving with time. Ever since its inception, we have definitely tasted success, and it has come with its own share of challenges. One of the most challenging times that I can remember was that of coming up with our SemiTruck working prototype within a span of just 35-days! It was an enriching experience, and amazing learning experience for everyone. It’s not only the team work, but also the trust in your team that helps you achieve something impossible like this.

Standing out from the competition, especially in a dynamic segment such as the EV industry is really difficult. It’s a cut-throat competition to stay on the top, and you are certain to have your highs and lows. But the rule that I live by, is that if you want something, you have to work for it. It’s never going to be easy, or else anyone could have achieved it. If you have a dream, you have to make sure to follow it with your heart and soul, and keep hustling until you achieve it. Success is a journey. You keep learning from your mistakes and you keep evolving and progressing.

How do you maintain the perfect
balance between your personal and professional life? What is your success mantra?
I find it amusing when people call it a balance. Your work is a part of your life, and just like any other things, you should have it planned. And not only that you need to stick with the plan. Contrary to what people believe, working all the time only puts you in a creative rut, without any productive output. It’s okay to take a pause sometimes. I get my strength from my family, and they have always been my constant support. There has been gazillion times where work has to come first, but I always make sure that I spend quality time with my family.

Going forward, what are the changes in market behaviour that you anticipate and what are the opportunities that you foresee?
It is projected that the Indian electric vehicle market is all set to reach to almost $ 206 Bn by 2030, and Triton EV are making aggressive headway to achieve a dominant market leader position. While almost every brand that you can think of is entering the EV segment, the key to grow & thrive in this industry is to have an extensive & exclusive charging infrastructure. This is a major gap, and whoever can address this will definitely run the show big time.

In the light of your strong experience across automotive industry, what advice would you give to the budding industry leaders?
I strongly believe that the core focus should always be towards the end consumers. A consumer-centric approach should always be the driving principle in any industry, and the automotive industry is no different. The business leaders should stop thinking about cash flows and approvals and start putting the customers at the centre. For example, in a scenario where the passengers in a car are stuck in traffic, they would need the AC and the infotainment systems to be running without affecting the overall battery life of the car. Considering consumer pain-points and user insights before coming out with a product goes a long way both in terms of quality as well as the company’s reputation.
