Give a brief about your educational and professional background and highlight the primary expertise you have gained so far.
With over 24+ years of in-depth experience in the Home Furnishings and Fashion industry, I have worked on several prestigious projects for Indian and international markets. My experience with DBS Lifestyle, Inceptra Lifestyle, Asmara Apparel India, Regency Textrade, and others along with my roles as an academician at top reputed fashion institutions and freelance consultant has given me extensive insights on the latest trend forecasting and market intelligence.

For several years of my professional journey, I worked as an academician in various leadership positions with Pearl Academy of Fashion, Wigan &
Leigh College (India), and National Institute of Fashion Technology. For a couple of years, I was a freelance consultant for top brands and institutes, and was featured in several publications on fashion & trend fore casting. All of the learnings throughout are being applied to my vision and insight into the design and research process of every major international and national brand and retailer.

We are living in a dynamic and fast-changing industry and the key ingredient to success here is to stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, immerse yourself in other subjects besides design, and experience different cultures


The foundational stones for this two and halfdecade of the rewarding journey were set by my education. Speaking of which, I have completed my Masters in Sociology, Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design, and PG Certificate in Higher Education from - Nottingham Trent University, UK.

What inspired you to take up the role of Chief Creative Officer at Sarita Handa?
Let me give a gist about Sarita Handa, before letting you know what intrigued me about the brand. Founded in 1992 by Sarita Handa, the company’s objective is very focused on not just carrying out a business, but nurturing artisans across the country. The company adopted a small group of women to do hand quilting in Tughlakabad, which was then just a village. Slowly it has empowered several women and grew into a brand with an international client base. The best part about the brand is its Originality, Crafts manship, Design innovations steeped in heritage, Artisanal Spirit carried in every aspect.

The company ensures to bring forth contemporary interpretations of age-old craft techniques. It revives age-old Indian needlework with cross-culturally inspired accents.

The Sarita Handa aesthetic exudes sophistication, inviting warmth tempered with intelligent restraint, and a forward-thinking blend of traditional intricacies and contemporary minimalism. This is the result of open and inclusive evolution by keeping up with the constantly changing demands of a multifaceted audience. Most importantly, the brand is inspired by unique indigenous traditions from around the world, and everywhere in India. All of these factors exposed a
lot of opportunities to bring in more creative elements and decided to be a part of the company.

What has been the success mantra that constantly helps you arrive at positive outcomes?
We are living in a dynamic and fast-changing industry, and the key ingredient to success here is to stay up-todate with the latest design trends, immerse yourself in other subjects besides design, and experience different cultures. The last point is my favorite because learning about various cultures by traveling to different places will open up your viewpoint and will make you stay aware of what’s going on in the world.

Apart from this, Passion, Patience, Proactiveness, Positive approach toward Failure, Curiosity, and Exploration, Listening & Observing, Time management, Work-life Balance, Right prioritization, Risk-taking attitude, Pushing beyond limits, Open eye to criticism, and a lifelong learner mindset; have helped me through the success path I have carved for myself.

As the CCO, how do you plan to apply your exceptional understanding of this domain to Sarita Handa and take it to the next level?
I believe that a major role in the brand's growth in creative terms revolves around conceptual thinking, strategic ideation, and amalgamation of old age Artisanal craft(unique indigenous traditions from around the world, and everywhere in India) with today’s modern technology. It is crucial to blend traditional intricacies and contemporary minimalism, while keeping with the constantly changing demands of a versatile market.

While I bring a wealth of experience, creativity, and aptitude combined with a passion for detail, craft, and aesthetics, my focus also lies on leveragingtechnology to enrich the Customer Experience.

Having a varied ‘pick ’n’ mix’ career has given me a wider set of skills that enables me to think bigger and wider as a CCO and take the organization to the next level.
