Currently, India has over 77 million people living with diabetes, and projections suggest this number could rise to 134 million by 2045. Heart disease, responsible for nearly 28 percent of all fatalities, stands as the leading cause of death in the country.
Reports indicate that obesity in India is escalating at an alarming rate, with urban areas facing the greatest impact— nearly 40 percent of adults in these regions are either overweight or obese. Unfortunately, this is only part of a larger health crisis. Lifestyle-related diseases such as hypertension, high cholesterol, liver disorders, and even certain cancers associated with poor habits are on the rise.
The irony is that many of these conditions are preventable, particularly if one had consistently maintained a balanced diet and exercise regimen throughout their 20s.
