Despite the early set back due to pandemic Mumbai is getting back to a more stable condition. This once again opens up box of opportunities for the starups & aspirant entrepreneurs in the city. While India is home to nearly 60 unicorns till date, major wedge of them belongs to Mumbai and Bangalore. With increased level of government interventions and support, Mumbai could be on its way to a startup hotspot.

Finding ways to make businesses do wonders and even creating new markets itself is nothing new for the city. Recently, Mumbai-based startup upGrad became the third edtech unicorn in India, after getting a total influx of
$185 million from international organizations like International Finance Corporation (a sister organization of the World Bank and member of the World Bank Group) meeting a valuation of $1.2 billion.

If the unicorn stories don't inspire you, Mumbaikars have their own `dabbawalas' to get inspired from. The Mumbai dabbawalas' and their business of delivering tiffin boxes date back to 1890, when the Parsi and British communities living in Mumbai were in the need of convenient tiffin delivery service. Presently, around 5,000-odd dabbawalas ferry over 200,000 dabbas daily, constituting one of the inspiring industries.

Mumbai today has setup the perfect climate needed for you to launch your startup, especially in the digital world. With some courage, an investment source and a vision to deliver seamless customer experiences using technology to the fullest, you can set off your dream entrepreneurial venture in the city. A good marketing strategy will take you a long way as well. In this issue of CEO Insights, we have carefully curated an index comprising some of the most promising startups in Mumbai.
