Chief Revenue Officer

Much more than facilitators of sales growth, today’s Chief Revenue Officers are experts in business strategy, sales development, finance, analytics, risk management, and more. Working abreast with the executives, CRO is an essential gear in the organization wheel. A particularly fine example of a successful, modern-day leader is Anubhav Nath, the Chief Revenue Officer at PTC Network, who added multiple accolades to his credit for being part of the core team of various media setups & creating new revenue verticals across various parts of the world.

The industry veteran with close to 25 years of experience in both strategic and operational aspects has played a significant role in the evolution of PTC Network the world’s No.1 Punjabi Television Network. Anubhav is well-known in the industry not only for his problem-solving skills and expertise but also for leading the organization’s key function with great efficiency and contributing to its growth. In conversation with CEO Insights, this seasoned media sales & marketing professional speaks about his growth journey.

Narrate the journey of your professional stint
Right after my schooling, I decided to thrust myself into getting exposure in the corporate world. Thankfully they were all in sales. My father who was also into sales and marketing was my inspiring factor. The first hand hard core sales experience which helped me gain hands-on experience in sales was by indulging myself into space selling, the yellow pages. It was quite satisfying to earn while learning way back in 1992. After continuing the part time job, part time studies for around three years, I realized that I was giving my 100 percent to neither my studies nor work hence decided to concentrate full time on education and pursued MBA.

Joining a music channel called ATN was my first step into the media industry. Ever since then it has been Media all the way.For the past 23 years, I have been with Punjabi
Channels of various networks. It helped me know the aspects of Market & Industry better than the rest. However, there is always room to evolve & improvise and do things always in a better fashion.

Elaborate your roles and responsibilities at PTC Network
Sales, marketing and revenue all go hand-in-hand. And, of course, revenue management is a function that controls the income and focuses on budgeting and accounting for the organization's expenses. A CRO has to wear various hats & undertake role plays, at times he has to wear the hat of a creative guy to innovatively sell & structure his selling proposition. At times, he has to act as an HR guy grooming, motivating and orienting the team.

Most importantly, his role is to keep the morale high at all times. I also act as a bridge between various verticals from programming, production, content, execution, and of course the top management.

While formulating a strategic plan, all that I have in mind is to have a vision and contribute towards the revenue generation with a long term goal

What are the key drivers you deploy to ensure that the company’s growth?
One of my business drivers is aligning the team into my planning and strategy. We have a very collective decision-making process in our organization we come up with ideas, shortlist them, and implement an outstanding idea that gets revenue backing. My Key driver therefore is my team, I feel blessed to be working with them & learn from each one of them as well. I am very, proud of my team.

At PTC, we believe that a piece of content should either give money or viewership, both are tangled so well. Embracing collective decision making, with all possible ways to get the job done. Most importantly, our Managing Director & President, PTC Network, Mr. Rabindra Narayan, the man full of passion is the key figure in terms of taking the organization to where it is today.

What factors do you take into consideration while developing a plan?
While formulating a strategic plan, all that I have in mind is to have a vision & contribute towards the
revenue generation with a long term goal. With that said, it is important to add value to the company and the clients/ viewers. We need to focus on generating revenue and giving value for money for the organization, viewer and the clients we service.
