Though the agricultural sector contributes to 16 percent of GDP 19.9%, still the sector remains highly unorganized, afflicted by a host of problems.Observing this disordered condition, there is a dire need for knowledgeable leaders as a support system to sketch valuable plans of actions to scale agriculture as an industry. Dr. Amit Tripathi is such a leader who unbinds the umpteen opportunities lying in the sector with his science-based knowledge and love for enhancing organic farming as a livelihood. He is CEO at Geolife- a fast-growing group of an ambitious multi-activity company that believes in the organic drive and eco-friendly approach of agriculture. Brief us on your educational and professional background.
I did my schooling in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. Later, I completed M.Sc. Agriculture (Ag. Extension) and aced to be the University topper in Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University, Jabalpur. I pursued Ph.D. in Indigenous Technologies in Agriculture and did Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development. During my professional journey, graduated MBA from Stratford University with distinctions.
In terms of my professional journey, I started my career with BEC Fertilizers Limited. Later I worked with brands like Biostadt, DuPont, Zytex, and Indofil Industries Limited. After 2 decades of overall experience, I joined Geolife Agritech
India Pvt. Ltd as the Chief Executive Officer. It has been a rewarding and insightful journey on the whole.
How are you contributing to the growth of Geolife? What are your strategies to scale the company towards the zenith?
In this span of association with Geolife, I found it’s great organization having core values at the soul. Geolife has mission to best on Nutrient technologies in Agriculture. I have brought professional systems in place. My goal is to build a positive, value-driven work culture and operational excellence. I am leveraging the learnings and expertise I gained from my 2 decades of varied and unique experience in India and Overseas. I drive constant learning within the company and incorporate changes for a better tomorrow. I like challenging assignments, grooming, and inspiring teammates to perform up to their maximum potential. Establishing an organization, managing P&L, creating a team, distribution network, understand rural psychology, creating cutting edge marketing communication is the area of my liking.
I understand the mindset and inclinations of employees. Working in the sector for quite a long time has instilled a knack for instant managerial skills and I always focus on driving the team by analyzing the skill set and competencies of the candidate. I believe that we can achieve the fullest only when the right person is selected for the right role. It is also important that the person enjoys the role.
I have also defined key responsibility areas (KRAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) for all the team members right from top to bottom in different departments. Last but not least, I also focus on channelizing the direction to achieve the desired outcome of the organization.

Enumerate on your success mantra.
I believe in the “Law of karma”. If we have faith and work towards our goals, success will reach us. When we desire something whole heatedly, success will come to us without fail. It’s hard to believe but there is something supernatural that makes me attain my target in time. Both in the case of my studies and profession, my aspirations have come true. Life is a gift of God with a unique purpose, I would like to make it most authentic and worthy.
How do you ensure to keep yourself updated about the market changes and innovations?
I am passionate to write articles about Indian Agriculture, which contributed about 19.9 percent on national GDP 19.9% in FY 2020-21. I am also a guest speaking faculty in Agribusiness Management Institutes. This apart, I am fortunate to be a speaker at IIMs and IITs where I understand the perspectives of the budding minds. I also keep myself updated by participating in national and international conferences.
