Gaurav Puri
Managing Partner
There's no shortcut, no inheritance of wisdom, only the lessons earned through effort. Gaurav Puri, Managing Partner at GLS Law Offices, is one such individual, having built his legal career through relentless dedication and perseverance.
As a first-generation lawyer, Gaurav stepped into the legal world with no established path to follow. From his early days navigating courtrooms as an intern to leading high-stakes cases, he has built his career brick by brick. His ability to simplify complex legal challenges and deliver strategic solutions has earned him the trust of startups, corporations, and private clients alike.
Now the Managing Partner at GLS Law Offices, Gaurav thrives on the thrill of problem-solving and the satisfaction of securing favorable outcomes. What fuels him is not just the practice of law but the ability to stand as a pillar of support for those who need it most.
Engaging in an immersive interaction with the CEO Insights magazine, Gaurav shares his leadership approach, future roadmap, and much more. Let's read about it.
How do you assess litigation risks, and what strategies do you implement to mitigate or eliminate them?
I assess litigation risks by carefully evaluating the stage at which a company brings us in. For startups, my primary focus is on ensuring their documentation is airtight from the very begin -
ning. This means drafting clear, unambiguous agreements with employees, vendors, and business partners to minimize potential disputes down the road. I guide them through the proper legal registrations, including intellectual property protections to safe guard their interests.
For established businesses, my approach involves conducting a thorough review of their existing legal framework. I identify any gaps or ambiguities in their agreements, policies, or regulatory compliance that could pose a risk.
If past issues exist, I work on mitigating those by restructuring agreements, strengthening legal protections, and ensuring clarity in ongoing dealings.
Can you share the most challenging litigation case you have handled and the strategies you used to resolve it?
Every case I handle comes with its unique challenges, so rather than identifying one as the most difficult, I focus on applying a structured approach to each.
My first step is always to understand the client's expectations because every client has a different perspective on success. Once I have clarity on their goals, I conduct a thorough legal analysis to assess the strengths and weak-nesses of their position.
I strongly advocate for alternative dispute resolution whenever feasible, as it often leads to a more efficient and mutually beneficial outcome. However, if litigation is unavoidable, I ensure my client is fully informed about the legal implications, risks, and potential outcomes. I provide a realistic assessment of their case, out lining both the advantages and challenges.
How would you describe your leadership style? What principles or methodologies guide your approach?
My leadership style is centered on leading by example. I believe in being the hardest worker in the room, arriving early, putting in the effort, and setting a standard that inspires my team to do the same.

I also prioritize approachability and open communication. My team knows that they can reach out to me at any time for guidance or support. I encourage discussions, especially when they face challenges with legal matters, so we can collaboratively analyze issues and find solutions.
What steps do you take to stay updated on evolving laws and regulations?
One of the key methods I use is academic writing. When I write on legal topics, I research new developments, emerging issues, and legislative changes. This process not only keeps me informed but also deepens my understanding of complex legal concepts.
Another way is through continuous discussions with my peers. I make it a point to engage with colleagues and legal professionals to exchange insights on cases and legal matters that they are handling. These discussions expose me to different perspectives and areas of law that I may not be directly working on. In addition, whenever I appear in court, I take the time to observe other cases being argued. Listening to proceedings helps me gain insights into unique legal arguments and judicial interpretations. I also make notes on interesting cases, which serve as a valuable reference for future legal challenges.
What are your long-term career goals and aspira- tions?
My long-term career goals revolve around expanding both the scope and impact of my legal practice. I aim to broaden my expertise into new legal domains while also extending our geographic reach to serve a wider clientele.
I want to create more opportunities for individuals who require legal assistance but may not have access to top legal professionals. My goal is to incorporate pro bono work as a core aspect of our practice.
