Ishan Tuljapurkar

Chief Product Officer

When the fear of becoming intellectually irrelevant fuels a leader, they become unstoppable. Such leaders treat complacency as the real enemy and transform every obstacle into a springboard for innovation.

Ishan Tuljapulkar, Chief Product Officer at Legasis, is a perfect example of this mindset. When an unexpected injury cut short his courtroom career, he didn’t retreat; he rewired his future, diving head first into legal technology.

Since then, he has led ground breaking innovations, from AI-powered compliance platforms to drone-based audit solutions, always staying several steps ahead of the curve.

One of India’s first licensed commercial drone pilots and a certified prompt engineer, Ishan thrives on curiosity and constant reinvention. For him, every setback is a challenge to outthink the ordinary and turn disruption into opportunity.

In a recent interview with CEO Insights magazine, Ishan shared his strategies, future roadmap, and vision for the company. Let’s read about it.

How do you ensure your product vision aligns with the company’s overall business goals?

First, we ensure that the product effectively addresses client problems. Second, because we build knowledge-intensive products that require significant implementation, we also align with our internal teams.

Our team members are critical stakeholders, and when we take care of them, they ensure the solution is delivered in the best possible way for each enterprise.

The inspiration for what we create comes from our clients, while the guardrails for how we deliver come from our teams. This balance ensures alignment and sustainable success.
What technologies have you implemented to help clients transform data into actionable insights?

We leverage a diverse range of technologies to help clients transform data into actionable intelligence. A major focus area for us is AI, particularly in solving complex compliance, governance, and ethics-related problems. We build knowledge-based AI applications that assist clients in addressing intricate regulatory challenges.

I believe true leadership means stepping up to take responsibility when things go wrong and stepping back to give credit when things go right

Beyond AI, we have adopted innovative technologies such as drones combined with image and video analytics to revolutionize audit processes. Traditionally, clients spent days or even weeks conducting large-scale audits across massive locations. We drastically reduced this time and enhanced accuracy by integrating drone technology when commercial licenses first became available. These audits are now delivered through our SaaS platform, combining product and service elements seamlessly.

Additionally, we have implemented IoT solutions within compliance platforms. For example, we developed a system where IoT devices measure emissions, such as sulfur dioxide concentration in exhaust fumes, and feed real-time data directly into our product. This data is then automatically mapped against compliance requirements to provide clients with immediate insights.

How would you describe your leadership style and approach to fostering innovation within your product team?

I believe true leadership means stepping up to take responsibility when things go wrong and stepping back to give credit when things go right. I place great emphasis on building a team of domain experts, often better than me in their respective areas, and I openly acknowledge and leverage these strengths. Whether it’s seeking their guidance on complex technical architecture or stepping in during challenging client conversations to shield the team,
I see leadership as a balance of empowerment, accountability, and trust.

What is your long-term vision for the future direction of your organization?

Over the next five years at Legasis, I want us to be among the first organizations where AI not only streamlines internal processes but also creates significant top-line impact through innovative, AI driven products and services. Personally, I aim to deepen my understanding of emerging technologies and product deployment strategies to strengthen my ability to guide these initiatives effectively.

As a leader in the industry, what piece of advice would you like to give to the upcoming leaders?

As someone who comes from a unique background in legal technology, being both a qualified lawyer and some one who has coded since school, I have learned the value of continuously expanding on knowledge. My biggest advice to upcoming leaders is to keep learning, even outside their immediate domain. Under - standing new technologies, markets, and products can give us perspectives that drive innovation.
