Can you share insights into your journey spanning over two decades? What pivotal moments shaped your success, and what principles have guided you along the way?

My journey began with my bachelor's in Dairy and Food Technology, which laid the foundation for my career in the food and dairy industry. Joining Amul straight out of university was a defining moment, immersing me in the intricacies of dairy co-operative union, its operations and nurturing my passion for quality and process optimization. Transitioning to Nestle broadened my horizons, exposing me to the corporate world and instilling in me a deep appreciation for advanced technologies and global standards. It was a period of personal and professional growth, as I navigated the challenges of team management while adapting to a new cultural milieu in Punjab.

The subsequent move to a prominent engineering conglomerate marked a pivotal phase where I honed my leadership skills amidst the complexities of acquisition. I had an opportunity to complete my executive MBA during this period. Leading the charge in transforming the company from a modest entity to a thriving multi millioneuro enterprise was immensely fulfilling. In 2011, a serendipitous call from SPX Flow Denmark presented an opportunity to further expand my horizons.

Joining SPX FLOW in Denmark, I embarked on a journey that continues to enrich me both personally and professionally. There has been has been lots of learning in last 12 years about living and working in Denmark, new language,
culture, innovation and sustainability. Denmark is well known for its leading life sciences technology companies. It’s a hub for lots of leading dairy and food producers, processing engineering, ingredients, equipment and instrument companies.

It provides a great ecosystem to collaborate with complimentary technologies and push the frontiers of innovation within food and dairy industry. The approach to European countries and travel to East or West across the globe is also comfortable. I should also mention that being in CET timezone, its possible to connect East (APAC) in morning and with West (Americas) in the afternoon. So its benefit to get lots of work done every day with a global role I have.

In my professional journey, my over-arching goal is to lead impactful change within the food and dairy industry, to address global challenges like food scarcity and nutritional deficiencies. With each passing year, my aspirations evolve, guided by the urgent need to innovate and adapt to the rapidly changing landscape of our industry.

I envision myself at the forefront of initiatives that not only meet the growing demands for food quantity but also prioritize quality and nutrition. Embracing emerging technologies and sustainable practices, I aim to revolutionize food production processes, making nutritious and whole some food accessible to people across all walks of life. To give some examples, food with high protein, less fat, less sugar, pre-biotics, foods promoting gut health, functional foods, and more.

Leveraging your extensive industry expertise, what advice would you offer to emerging leaders looking to make an impact in their respective fields?

I advise emerging leaders to embody three essential virtues which are patience, persistence, and pleasure. Patience is crucial as success rarely happens overnight, it requires perseverance and consistent effort. Persistence ensures that you stay focused on your goals despite challenges or setbacks. However, amidst the hustle, don't forget the third ‘P’ which is pleasure. Balancing hard work with moments of joy, whether with family, friends, or personal pursuits, is vital for a fulfilling life. Remember, success isn't just about professional achievements but also about nurturing relationships and cherishing life's simple pleasures.
