Share the key opportunities emerging in the insurance industry, and the major challenges that require attention?
The insurance industry in India remains largely untapped, which presents immense opportunities. It is currently benefiting from regulatory liberalization. With restrictions gradually easing, there is significant potential for growth, especially through enhanced professional expertise and greater transparency for customers. However, key challenges persist; notably the complexity of policy wordings and technical language that limits accessibility for the average consumer.
Making insurance terminology and structures easier will play an essential role in enhancing the comprehension, confidence and eventually the insurance penetration both in the retail and corporate segments.
How do you leverage emerging oppor -tunities while addressing industry challenges?
Our approach focuses on exploring untapped and emerging markets rather than competing in already saturated segments. Nearly 70 percent of our business comes from these new markets, where we identify uninsured risks and educate clients on the value and benefits of insurance.
This strategy will cost us time and effort, but will assist us in developing long-term relationships. A majority of our clients have been associated with us for more than ten years. We can establish long term value by educating, inspiring trust and long-term involvement to the insurance broking provided through a model that enables deeper investment of time, energy and resources per client.
How has technology influenced the sector so far?
Technology has significantly transformed the insurance industry by streamlining operations such as issuing of policies, service to the customers, and claims management across both public and private sectors. It has increased customer experience with quicker, more efficient and open procedures, moving the transactions onto the digital platforms. While technology has greatly improved backend efficiency, the human touch remains essential in understanding client needs and guiding insurance decisions.

When addressing client requirements, we are guided by a systematic and transparent process. We begin by understanding the client’s processes and then recommend the most suitable coverage options available in the market along with their associated costs.
We guide clients in evaluating how much risk they wish to retain or transfer, based on their expense preferences. Through mutual agreement we decide on the required coverage amount and then go out to get the best rates in the market.
What is the next chapter you have envisioned for your company?
As mentioned earlier, we plan to become a composite insurance broking company in India while progressively expanding into diverse industries, both within the country and internationally. At this stage, our primary focus is to secure the composite license with our current setup, which we intend to receive in the near future, after which we will seek to expand strategically all over India and into other global markets.
