Santosh B M is the Founder & CEO of Brainstorm Infotech and under his guidance,the company is aiming to break new business frontiers and reach for unprecedented heights.
In an exclusive interview with CEO Insights, Santosh talks more about his professional journey and the unique business operations of Brainstorm Infotech.
Can you talk more about your educational and professional background? Also, can you briefly talk about the inception story of Brainstorm Infotech?
I am a Civil Engineer by profession and being a civil engineer was my dream from a very young age. Subsequently, I secured a campus placement and I gained more knowledge about the detailing industry as a whole. When I entered the industry in 2004, the processes were very slow but over the years, I have seen the growth of the industry. Later, I had the opportunity to start a business of my own in 2010. My wife is also a civil engineer, she helped me start my own detailing company and within a couple of years we were able to get some traction in the industry. We started with just four employees and now, we have more than 100 engineers working in the organization.
What is your success mantra?
There is nothing that can replace hard work, and me along with my team, have worked long shifts
regularly during our early days from inception. Even now, the culture of hard work that we have created within the organization is what drives us forward.
Can you talk more about the services that you offer and what makes you unique in the industry?
We have created a diversified service portfolio that includes structural steel detailing, connection design and checking as per American Institute of Steel Construction(AISC)and Canadian Institute of Steel Construction(CISC) standards for Commercial and Industrial Structures. We also boast of immense expertise in
International Standard (IS), British Standard(BS) and Australian Standards for steel construction with advanced 2D Drafting & 3D Modeling Software. Our strength lies in providing the most accurate and error free detailing services that put our clients on the field at ease. We have a state-of-the-art workstation that houses the latest technological aids and softwares used in the industry. We assist our clients in assessment, planning, preparing tailor made drawings, and general detailing, and empower them to carry out the herculean task of completing a steel structure with utmost ease. We also ensure that our pre engineering assistance enables the fabricators to get the work done faster, within the budget, and in a stress free environment. We fully understand the impact our work has on our client's business, and hence, we plan our work meticulously so that we can be the best collaborator a client can engage with.

During the first seven years, we did not invest in any marketing activities and we were only getting clients through referrals which show cases our quality and the trust our clients have in us. Even though we have grown a lot, I still believe that we can grow even further.
How has the pandemic affected your business?
The first wave had an adverse impact on us because we were not prepared for it since our business model and style of operation did not fit well with the work from home approach. With that said we quickly adapted by incorpo rating unique and innovative strategies that helped us to be on track for the projects that we were executing. By the time the second wave hit, we were prepared and owing to this, we were able to manage and overcome the challenges ensuring smooth continuity of work and project execution.
Can you talk more about the future plans of Brainstorm Infotech?
We are focused on developing next generation leaders so that we can expand our business seamlessly. Also at the same time, we are aiming to work with leading fabricators in North America from here on thereby ensuring consistent growth. We don't want to sit on our laurels instead, we are aiming to forge ahead in creating a legacy of reliable, error-free,and supreme quality work. Our dedication, commitment and credibility have helped us to be amongst the top names in the industry, and we continue to enjoy collaborating with prestigious clients from across the US and Canada.
