Thushar KS, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of MotoXchange Solutions Private Limited, represents a rare blend of domain expertise and entrepreneurial foresight. An engineer by qualification with an MBA in Marketing and Finance, he brings close to three decades of experience in the automotive and mobility sector.

His career reflects a clear pattern of leadership grounded in retail operations, business model innovation, franchise development and technologyled transformation within the pre-owned automotive ecosystem. This combination of technical insight and strategic clarity has positioned him as a recognised Business Model Innovator, particularly acknowledged for conceptua -lising scalable and successful models within the sector.

His journey began with the Kuttukaran Group, one of India’s most respected multi-brand automotive retail houses. The early exposure to diversified dealership operations provided him with a strong understanding of customer behaviour, retail dynamics, and operational complexity. In 2004, he transitioned to the Mahindra Group, a move that shaped nearly 20 years of his professional trajectory.

At Mahindra First Choice Wheels, he led national initiatives across Super Store Operations, Channel Expansion,
Procurement through the Exchange Business, and Franchise and Network Development. His most notable contribution was the creation of a technology-driven model for vehicle exchange across OEMs, known as the CPT Business. This initiative became one of the organization’s most scalable successes and was recognised as a finalist for the prestigious Mahindra Innovation Awards.

What specific measures have you put in place to ensure that dealerships operate with complete transparency and follow consistently ethical business practices?

I consider transparency and ethical conduct fundamental to how we operate, which is why we have put in place a structured framework to maintain these standards across our dealership network. Our digital platform provides complete visibility into every stage of a transaction, ensuring clarity and data integrity.

We have established uniform SOPs, digital documentation, and audit-ready workflows to promote consistency. Every partner works within a defined code of conduct, supported by comprehensive digital audit trails that reinforce accountability and uphold responsible business practices.

How would you define your leadership approach, and what guiding principles or methods do you consistently follow as a leader?

I follow a leadership philosophy that combines strategic clarity, domain strength, and technologyled execution. I lead with a long-term vision and ensure that every initiative supports our mission of building a transparent and innovative used car ecosystem. I focus on empowering teams with strong industry expertise by giving them autonomy, resources, and digital tools to excel.

I encourage open communication, rely on data-backed decisions, and maintain structured governance. I emphasise operational discipline through well-defined processes and performance metrics. For me, integrity remains the centre of all decisions, ensuring fairness and long term value creation.

What long-term future are you working toward, and what direction is your journey now taking?

I see our future at MotoXchange with absolute clarity. We are building India’s most trusted, transparent, and technology-led pre-owned automotive ecosystem
powered by a strong partner network and a fully digitized operating model. Our goal is to redefine how vehicles are bought, sold, evaluated, and serviced by relying on AI-driven inspections, automated valuations, centralized digital workflows, and real time operational visibility.

Our roadmap focuses on nationwide expansion, deeper technology integration, and a future-ready mobility infra -structure. We are strengthening a multi-vertical ecosystem that covers every essential element of the pre-owned vehicle value chain. Through SmartSELL, customers sell their cars confidently with full transparency. Drive SMART Franchisee offers verified, quality-assured cars across a growing national network.

MotoASSURED provides com- prehensive warranties, while MotoAUCTION delivers efficient digital auctions with real-time bidding. MotoTRANSIT supports interstate vehicle documentation, MotoINSPECT ensures pro- fessional evaluations, MotoCOX acts as the digital backbone for all operations, and MotoEdge manages communication, support, and backend precision.

Together, these verticals create a unified, future ready ecosystem that sets new benchmarks in trust, customer experience, operational excellence, and digital governance.

Drawing from your long experience in the industry, what guidance would you offer to emerging leaders who aim to shape the future of this field?

I believe leadership in the mobility and automotive sectors demands clarity, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to continuous learning. My experience has taught me that strong domain expertise is essential because it shapes sound decisions and builds credibility.

Integrity and transparent communication create the trust that sustains long-term success. I see technology as a strategic enabler and encourage leaders to adopt it proactively. I focus on empowering high-performing teams and staying customer centric in every decision.

I remain committed to lifelong learning because this industry is evolving faster than ever. For me, true leadership is about creating meaningful, lasting impact.
