
Cathay Pacific Elevates Piyuli Bhattacharjee for SAMEA Marketing

Cathay Pacific has named Piyuli Bhattacharjee as the new regional marketing director for South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa (SAMEA). In this position, she will oversee regional brand marketing initiatives and enhance Cathay Pacific's presence throughout important markets in the area.
Piyuli announced her move on LinkedIn, saying: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as regional head of marketing - South Asia, Middle East and Africa at Cathay Pacific!”
She assumes this position following more than three years at the airline, during which she held the position of marketing manager for SAMEA, overseeing brand campaigns and regional approaches across various markets.

Prior to her time at Cathay Pacific, Piyuli was employed at Croma, where she handled paid media campaigns, influencer partnerships, and television commercial production. She also has experience with Tata Consultancy Services in market research and started her professional journey as an intern at Ogilvy & Mather, working on the exterior paint division for Asian Paints.
This year, Cathay Pacific enhanced its Indian network by restarting its direct passenger flights from Hyderabad, the primary city of India's Telangana state, on March 31, 2025. This eagerly awaited service runs three times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays, providing smooth travel links for passengers to Hong Kong and other destinations.

Through this restart, Cathay Pacific now serves five Indian cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad – reinforcing its position as a major airline linking India to its primary hub in Hong Kong.
The return of Hyderabad flights highlights India's importance within Cathay Pacific's worldwide network.
The direct route utilizes the airline's Airbus A330-300 aircraft, which includes Business and Economy class sections.
Hyderabad, a dynamic center for technology and business, has experienced increased demand for international travel. The city's advantageous position, combined with its strong infrastructure and economic development, makes it an appealing destination for long-distance flights. The recent enhancement of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, managed by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, together with the city's expanding global connections, has improved its capacity to draw long-haul services. Hyderabad International Airport currently serves 72 domestic and 23 international destinations.
