IBM to Skill 5 Million Indian Youth in AI, Cybersecurity and Quantum

IBM declared the initiation of a training program intended to equip 5 million individuals throughout India in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and quantum computing by 2030. The program will be provided via IBM SkillsBuild.

The initiative aims to assist IBM in achieving its objective of fostering a more equitable and future-prepared workforce by enhancing access to advanced digital skills and boosting employability for students and adult learners alike.

IBM Chairman, President, and CEO Arvind Krishna states, “India has the capability and drive to excel globally in AI and quantum technologies. Proficiency in emerging technologies will determine economic competitiveness, scientific advancement, and societal change. Our dedication to training five million individuals represents an investment in that future. By opening up access to advanced skills, we empower the youth and students to create, innovate, and boost India’s development.”

The skilling initiative is included in IBM’s strategy to educate 30 million individuals worldwide by 2030, as stated by the company. SkillsBuild plays a key role in IBM’s goal to educate 30 million individuals globally by 2030, with India being one of the primary drivers of that vision.

This initiative will enable the company to broaden education in AI and emerging technologies throughout schools, universities, and vocational training systems. It will partner with organizations such as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to promote practical AI learning approaches, faculty development initiatives, curriculum incorporation, hackathons, and internship opportunities.

The organization is assisting students in schools by collaborating with others to develop an AI curriculum for senior secondary classes. It offers educational resources like an AI Project Cookbook, a Teacher's Guide, and easy-to-understand modules.

The initiative seeks to educate students on fundamental computer reasoning and the ethical use of AI from a young age. They additionally assist educators in feeling assured when instructing AI to many students.
