One of the biggest B2B e-commerce and supply chain technology firms in Asia, Moglix, has announced the opening of its greenfield bitumen processing facility under its manufacturing subsidiary, DRG Industries.

The project, which is located in Kosi Kalan, Mathura, is scheduled to start commercial production in July 2025.

This is a calculated move in Moglix's mission to use sustainable, future-ready materials to drive India's infrastructure revolution.

The creation of infrastructure that is not only vast but also long-lasting, secure, and sustainable is essential to India's goal of Viksit Bharat.

With the second-largest road network in the world, India's next challenge is to improve road longevity and quality while also addressing safety and environmental effect.

Road safety is still a top concern in the country. Materials that provide long-term surface integrity and lower deterioration risks are crucial as the nation aims to significantly reduce road-related occurrences by 2030. This goal of creating safer, more intelligent roadways serves as the foundation for Moglix's foray into bitumen production.

Moglix will manufacture a new generation of high-performance, value-added bitumen products through DRG Industries, such as hard binders, microsurfacing-grade emulsions, and bitumen enhanced with polymers.

These solutions are designed to lower the overall carbon footprint, shorten maintenance cycles, and increase road life.

Microsurfacing, one of the facility's main products, is well known throughout the world for repairing surface fractures, enhancing road friction, and boosting longevity. Microsurfacing can save carbon emissions by up to 44% and quadruple pavement life when compared to conventional resurfacing.

Moglix is investing in domestic R&D to create bitumen solutions that are suited to India's varied topography, traffic patterns, and temperature zones in an effort to further localize innovation.

The DRG Industries facility, which spans 3.5 acres, combines state-of-the-art Denimotech mills, fully automated processing lines, and an internal research and development center. The facility places Moglix as a major participant in India's developing bitumen ecosystem, with an established monthly processing capacity of more than 28,000 MT.

Utilizing carbon-neutral, biomass-fueled high-efficiency boilers with scrubber systems and filter bags, the facility's heating process is much more environmentally friendly and compliant with Moglix's ESG roadmap.

In addition to supporting infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh, the National Capital Region, Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir, the facility is ideally situated to serve northern and central India. It will also service export markets like Nepal.

Through vendor and contractor relationships, the facility is anticipated to create local jobs and support the regional SME ecosystem, in addition to supporting India's infrastructure goals.

DRG Industries, a greenfield project, is a prime example of Moglix's capacity to plan, create, and implement industrial infrastructure that is sustainable, scalable, and in line with national objectives. The business intends to increase the amount of bitumen it produces throughout India.
