President Murmu Honours 45 Teachers With National Teacher Awards

President Droupadi Murmu presented National Teacher Awards to 45 educators from various parts of the nation today, recognizing their outstanding contributions to education and student development.

The recipients were honored at the yearly awards ceremony for their innovative teaching approaches, commitment to student advancement, and efforts to improve educational outcomes in challenging circumstances.

The award winners, who ranged from those using creative teaching methods to those motivating first-generation students, have been instrumental in influencing young people throughout India.

One of the recipients is M Devananda Kumar, a Telugu instructor at Dr Lakireddy Hanimireddy Government Degree College in Mylavaram, Andhra Pradesh, who earned recognition for his creative educational techniques.

"His work includes creating thallapatra granthas (palm-leaf manuscripts), producing educational videos for LMS, and earning prestigious accolades for his contributions to education," his citation read.

 

Likewise, Proshanto Kr Saha, a Psychology professor at Rajiv Gandhi Central University in Arunachal Pradesh, received acknowledgment for his specialization in forensic psychology and neuropsychology, bringing over 14 years of academic experience.

"He established a Neuropsychology Lab, developed intervention training modules, led major research projects, and extended psychological support to child abuse victims, reflecting his commitment to both academic excellence and social impact," the citation said.

Before the awards ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the National Award recipients. In a playful comment, he mentioned that although teachers typically assign homework to their students, he wished to give them an assignment: to spearhead initiatives supporting domestic products and bolster the "Make in India" and "Vocal for Local" campaigns.

Teacher's Day carries immense importance as it acknowledges the commitment, mentorship, and essential contribution of educators in molding young intellects and communities. Beyond imparting knowledge, they cultivate moral principles, ignite inquisitiveness, and direct students toward the correct direction. Their influence reaches far beyond the classroom walls, creating enduring effects on students' experiences.

The Government will supply accommodation and meal arrangements for all recipients. Based on the official statement, the chosen educators will be housed at The Ashok Hotel in New Delhi from September 3 through 6. An orientation meeting is planned at the hotel on September 3 at 5 pm, with a practice session on September 4, before the awards presentation on September 5.
