Dr. Parameshwara CM is a general surgeon with 22 years of expertise and a colorectal surgeon with 12 years of experience. In the last five years, Dr. Parameshwara has performed the highest number of colorectal operations and fistulas in the world. He is an international pioneer in the treatment of difficult and recurring fistulas. Dr. Parameshwara has served as an associate professor at the Mandya institute of medical sciences for the last two decades,during which time he has influenced 1400 students and mentored 60 surgeons.
Dr. Parameshwara has worked at various levels of healthcare,including government hospitals, government medical college hospitals, and business hospitals. In 2016, he established Smiles Hospitals, a world-class center of excellence in coloproctology. Dr.Parameshwara always desired to have a significant influence on all of his patients and society as a whole, as well as to create jobs in a nation with a high unemployment rate.

Could you talk about the learnings and experiences that you acquired from ISB and how you apply them in your current role?
I established Smiles Hospitals Bangalore, which specializes in gastrointestinal and coloproctology. To be honest, I've always had the entrepreneurial gene, but graduating from ISB allowed me to step into my current role. I have a new view of things and believe in developing secondary leaders and delegating my organization's duties and responsibilities. The patient's clinical results, empathy, patient-centered care, and ethics were all reinforced at the ISB by excellent instructors like D.V.R. Seshdra and professor Sarang Deo, who graduated from a prominent medical college.
Reflect on some of the major challenges you have experienced in your journey so far? How did you overcome them and what did you learn from them?
The position of co-founders is the most significant hurdle in every new enterprise. Anyone we encounter on our journey cannot become a co-founder with us. After a lengthy amount of time of knowing and understanding one another, the key co-founders should come up with a common vision and goal.

Statutory compliances will be the next obstacle on the road ahead of us. The importance of statutory compliance cannot be overstated in any business or organization. As soon as all legal requirements are completed, we won't have to worry about complications with the government.
How do you maintain the perfect balance between your personal and professional life? What is your success mantra?
Maintaining a healthy work life balance while still working as a surgeon and starting a new venture has proven to be a particularly tough challenge for me in the early stages of my career. Even more difficult is the fact that people have extremely high expectations of their care providers. For example, every patient must be given the attention they deserve. Take, for example, Dr. Devi Shetty of Narayana Hrudayalaya, although he no longer sees patients, he nevertheless answers their concerns. In my quest for success, I have relied heavily on the support of my family and friends, who have made many sacrifices to help me achieve my goals.
Going forward, what are the goals that you wish to invest in and how do you plan to take them further?
