The Indian media and entertainment sector is a rising star in the economy, with tremendous progress being made. The Indian M&E business is on the threshold of a robust phase of expansion, underpinned by increased consumer demand and growing advertising revenue, demonstrating its resilience against the rest of the world. In FY22, India's ad revenue is expected to reach Rs. 672 billion. In India, subscription income is expected to reach Rs. 698 billion in FY22.

Being a multi-skilled engineer by degree, a pilot by passion, and a seasoned entrepreneur with a track record in the entertainment business. Mubin Tisekar is an expert in event planning, creative writing, market research, management, and content management. CEO Insights interviewed Mubin Tisekar (Founder) of The Entertainment Factory, wherein he enlightened us about the challenges he overcomes to evolve as a recognized name in the industry.

Tell us about the journey so far at The Entertainment Factory. What are the major challenges faced by you in your professional journey so far and how did overcome those to evolve as a business leader?
It was a long journey that began when I was a Programmer at the Comedy Store, back when stand-up comedy was first introduced in India, and I worked with all of the national and international comedians there. Then, a few years later, it occurred to me that I should investigate it on my own. People often worry if now is the right moment to launch their business and the truth is that there is never a terrible moment to go out. As a result, the Indian Comedy Club was born, and it quickly became a success, so we conducted regular events in clubs, corporate performances, festival events, and so on at the ICC. Also, to keep up with the market, one must always come up with something new, which is why The Entertainment Factory was created. This is where we
hosted comedy gigs, music festivals, award shows, video production, and music production, among other things.

As the Founder, what strategies have you laid to enhance the functionalities of the organization post-pandemic? How the strategies implemented by you transformed your work culture and client relationships?
Well nobody had guessed that we'd all be hit by a pandemic, if we're talking about strategies, there were none, we had no idea when it would start, how it would start, after such a lengthy interval, and especially after it had hit everyone so hard. In terms of client relationships, we in the event sector have always had and continue to have excellent relationships with our clients. And it's likely that, in the aftermath of the pandemic, this has aided in dealing with some extent. Thanks to our clients for believing in us and allowing us to begin our presentations with all of the necessary safety precautions.

The Entertainment Factory has always contributed to society in some form, which can be classified as CSR initiatives

Also, tell us about your achievements at The Entertainment Factory and the business transformation you led via those achievements?
The Entertainment Factory has always contributed to society in some form, which can be classified as CSR initiatives. These contributions are made at different times. For example, on December 27, 2020, soon after Christmas, we organized a show for kids called 'Flubber & Friends Show', to which we invited Dream Girl Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps impoverished children. The children, according to the NGO's volunteers, enjoyed the show. We also donated to them as a token of our support. Our first show with Nitinn R Mirani, when we initially started doing online shows, was called 'Mission Oxygen'. We collaborated with the artist on this performance and determined that all proceeds from ticket sales would be donated to hospitals to purchase oxygen cylinders for Covid patients. Furthermore, The Entertainment Factory, with its talents, is showcasing a humble tribute to the COVID-19 warriors in the best
possible way. We are organizing a show with Sunil Grover in Patna, specifically curated for ‘Covid Warriors,' primarily for frontline COVID-19 workers who fought ardently during this critical situation and were responsible for saving a monumental number of lives. This performance will be a homage to front-line personnel for their unselfish service during these trying times. All of these are personal accomplishments for me, we hope to host many more shows like ‘Mission Oxygen,' therefore I believe this is the business transition we have undergone.

How do you keep yourself updated with the recent industry trends? What are the steps that you take to stay industry-ready?
There are several conferences, industrial events, a limited number of sessions, and so on, this allows us to receive hands-on information while also allowing us to create a network. Networking and attending events can also help you stay informed about what your competitors are thinking. Many industries have changed as a result of the Covid Situation, and some have vanished, to be prominent in the business, it's critical to keep up with changing trends. Staying in the loop, or being informed of what is going on in the industry and how other organizations are dealing with it, is critical to understanding these trends. Anything and everything can serve as a source of inspiration.

It's also worth noting that, both before and after the Covid Situation, social media has emerged as one of the most reliable sources of business news. You can acquire the newest information and opinions while getting your daily social media dose by following artists, celebrities, analyzing competition, and industry trends on platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. At the same time, in this industry, tickets portals assist in gathering information about upcoming events, how they'll be held, and whether or not the public wants the event to take place.
