Founder & CEO,

With the emerging trends of data-driven decision making and automation, many large organizations are implementing various data science tools to produce actionable suggestions or automate their daily operations, which has resulted in a surge in the data science consulting sector. The main responsibility of the consulting sector is to supply its clients, who are primarily large multinational organizations, with skilled outside talent. These multinational organizations adopt strategic plans for expanding their businesses, usually by raising sales or cutting costs. They must implement artificial intelligence and big data technology in several business domains in order to achieve these goals.

A successful data science consultant needs a wide range of abilities, including business savvy, subject expertise, analytical problem solving, teamwork, project management, communication, presentation, big data, software development, and machine learning. Take us through your educational and professional journey, what inspired you to establish Decision Culture and what drives you today?
I graduated with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from NITK Surathkal in 2007 and a master's degree in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2009. After receiving my master's, I joined a data science startup, which was the beginning of my data science journey. Since my engineering days, I've been thinking about starting my own business and looking for possibilities and ideas. Given my background in analytics, client relationship management, and an entrepreneurial attitude in 2013, the decision to launch Decision Culture as a data science company made perfect sense.

Tell us about the learning experiences at NITK offers and what did you learn from the campus beyond academics?
At NITK, I've had a variety of experiences that have been really beneficial to me. First, students and instructors have distinct backgrounds objectives and areas of expertise. Throughout my time as an engineer, I had daily encounters with them, which taught me how to view situations from a wider angle, evaluate opportunities objectively, and generally be adaptable.

Second, the possibilities they give me to participate in extracurricular activities like sports, clubs, and college festivals have helped me develop as a person overall. I had the chance to head the NITK badminton team for three years, which undoubtedly improved my leadership abilities.
