Lip-Bu Tan as   Intel’s  New CEO

Intel Corporation has recently appointed Lip-Bu Tan, an experienced executive in the semiconductor industry, as its new CEO. Lip-Bu, who previously led Cadence Design Systems and was also a member of Intel's board. 

Despite its historical dominance in the semiconductor sector, Intel's market value has significantly decreased, with its stock price dropping over 54 percent in the last year. In his new role, Lip-Bu will collaborate closely with engineers to create innovative products informed by customer feedback. 

Earlier this month, he took the helm at Intel, a company that once commanded more than 90 percent of the market share in personal computers and data center servers but has recently fallen behind competitors like Nvidia.image

Lip-Bu, originally from Malaysia and brought up in Singapore, is now a naturalized citizen of the United States. He relocated to the US to pursue his higher education, specializing in nuclear engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Following this, he transitioned to California to attend business school and established the venture capital firm Walden International in 1987.

As both an investor and CEO, Lip-Bu was among the first to identify a significant trend that has transformed the chip industry over the last three decades: the separation of chip design and manufacturing into distinct areas of expertise.
