The Georgia Institute of Technology is well known for its close relationship with the industry realm. Now, the institute has joined hands with Hyundai Motor Company, announcing a long-term partnership as part of Hyundai's investments in Georgia. The partnership aims to collaborate on research and applications that will support the future of sustainable mobility, hydrogen economy, workforce development, and smart cities, among other areas of interest.

A new electric vehicle and battery plant the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America will be built by Hyundai
in Bryan County, Georgia, with an investment of $5.54 billion. While this will create more than 8,100 direct jobs, Hyundai has also established a $120,000 STEM scholarship at Georgia Tech when it started the construction of the site in October 2022.

Bobby Dodd Stadium, the home of Georgia Tech football, will now have a new name: Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field. This is part of the partnership with Hyundai, which also includes sponsorship elements that will enhance the game day experience for fans inside and outside the stadium.

Commenting on the occasion, Georgia Tech President Ángel Cabrera expressed his gratitude: “I am grateful for the transformative investments Hyundai is making in our state, and I am proud that the Hyundai brand will feature prominently on our campus. I look forward to working with Hyundai leaders to deepen our partnership as we work to develop exceptional leaders and produce new ideas that will shape the automotive industry and advance mobility in the future.” We congratulate Georgia Tech on this initiative while presenting our yearly special issue dedicated to the prestigious alumni of the institution.
