The Indian healthcare sector is one of foundational pillars of the country. Ensuring health, wellness, nutrition of the Indian population, the criticality of the healthcare sector cannot be overstated. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit the Indian shores, the Indian healthcare system was at the forefront of tackling the unexpected challenges.

Apart from ensuring the health and wellness of Indian population, the healthcare sector is also one of the major contributors to the country’s economy and is the engine of employment generation.

In today’s world, where diseases and ailments are growing rapidly, the healthcare industry in India has been expanding exponentially. Data suggests that in 2016, the Indian healthcare industry was valued at $86 billion. Expected to grow at a CAGR of 22 percent, the healthcare sector will be worth a whopping $638 billion by 2025.

However, challenges prevail. The industry is still grappling with inadequate infrastructure, lack of trained medical professionals and more. Bringing widespread access to healthcare in both rural and urban set-up is another challenge that ails the Indian healthcare sector.
Amidst prevailing challenges, the industry is being sustained by hardworking and committed healthcare professionals. In the current edition of the CEO Insights India magazine, we highlight visionary leaders in healthcare.
