Indian Business Leaders: Chalking India's Economic Growth
Walk through any Indian city today and the economy’s engine is on display: cranes over half-built towers, trucks of cement and steel rolling toward new highways, factory floors humming behind the ring roads.
Real estate sits at the heart of it, contributing roughly 7 to 8 percent of GDP and employing more people than any sector except agriculture. Every new home or office park sets off a chain reaction. Cement, steel, glass, tiles and paint makers see their order books fill, and India now ranks second globally in both cement and crude steel.
Engineering and manufacturing, from machinery and auto components to electrical equipment, turn that momentum into exports, skilled jobs and technical depth, nudged along by Make in India and production-linked incentives. Tying it together is the push on roads, railways, ports and metros, which keeps demand circulating.
None of these sectors grows alone, and that is the point: each one’s progress pulls the others forward, carrying the country’s ambitions with it.
In the current edition of CEOInsights India magazine, examines these industries closely and identifies some of the elite business leaders from the aforementioned industries.
